Hello Everyone! It’s been a while since I posted anything for Lifestyle Crafts. But I’m here today with an exciting news! Now you can find the L Letterpress Bundle, Lifestyle Crafts inks, and Studio Calico exclusive letterpress printing plates & dies at Studio Calico Store!
I received a few Studio Calico plates and dies to showcase today!
I hope that you can see the debossed details in the photo. It is really amazing in real life!
With letterpress, you can also achieve a multi-color look because the L Letterpress system has some great alignment tools to help with the placement. I used 3 colors on my card here:
I love that we have matching dies for the plates too. All embellishments on this card were letterpressed and die cut:
If you are not familiar with L Letterpress, you can find some video tutorials here to get you started. I also had a step-photo post here. I am very excited that Studio Calico is having an online Letterpress Class starting September 1, 2013!
Before I go, I would like to share a couple in-process photos I shared on Instagram. You are welcome to follow me if you are interested in seeing my craft hoards and project sneak peaks. Thank you for stopping by! Happy Crafting!
Hello everyone! Popped in to share a fun little DIY for the upcoming 4th of July celebration!
I surprised myself by how cute they look, haha! They make great cupcake toppers or a banner to decorate your window or mantel! Sadly, we are on diet and no cupcake here! ;)
The flags were made by stamping the strips from my Texture Tiles: Be Cool stamp set, trim and cut in half and then cut some navy cardstock to 1/2″ x 3/4″ and adhere.
And they were screaming for some stars and rosettes. I used Tim Holts Rosette die but you can also make your own using a scoring board.
You can also stamp some stars on the flag. (the smallest star from Party Animal used here. *If you order anything from Avery Elle between now and June 30th, you can get this set for free as part of the Year One Celebration. The Cherry Red and Sapphire cardstock are also from AE.)
Happy 4th, everyone!
Hope that you enjoyed today’s post! Happy weekend!
The star banner in the photo above is made with the Star Punches die. It has two dies to “punch” out multiple stars with a single run through your die cutting machine. The stars are arranged in a fun way to get you a cool border as well:
I like all the Punches dies. Another one on sale this time is Pennant Punches. I used them to make a mobile for a baby project earlier this year:
My favorite products from Lifestyle Crafts lately are the Shape n Tape washi paper. With them, we are not limited to just washi strips but many more fun shape possibilities with our dies!
And don’t forget that you can combine my promo code WAFFLE to get 20% off on top of the 40% sale. Thank you for stopping by! Happy Crafting!
The Genius Platform has one magnetic base (as shown in the photo) and two cutting mats (a thicker one for thin metal dies and a thinner one for thicker dies). For my project today, I used the platform with the thicker mat for all the dies.
Label dies from the Nesting Dies set included in the Genius Platform, flowers from Petals; banners from Flags. I colored them quickly with some Distress Inks. The embossed area took more ink and made the details pop.
Detailz Dies are cutting dies that allow you to cut, emboss and stencil. I used thick Letterpress paper to cut and emboss with a single run through my Big Shot machine.
I added a piece of cereal box packaging to get deeper and crisper embossed lines. I’m waiting on the rubber mat for embossing thinner paper and I will share my experience later. (Please note that every machine is slightly different, you still need to experiment with yours.)
I like that the cutting mats do not warp and have a self-healing surface. But it will probably take me some time to get use to putting the dies down before paper and facing them up.
