Hello everyone! I’ve been wanting to do some Back to Basics posts for a very long time. I’ve tried to include some step photos in my posts but my blog is probably not a beginner-friendly site. I am grateful that some of you emailed me your questions and made me realize that I should cover some of the basics at some point. I can’t promise how often I will be posting in this category but today I’m going to answer the most frequently asked question I get: “Should I get a manual die cut machine or an electronic die cut machine?” Since an automatic die cut machine (e.g Vagabond – $119.99) cuts the same way as a manual die cut machine, I will just compare the differences between a manual die cutter (e.g Big Shot – $69.99, Cuttlebug – $56.99 and Evolution – $104.49) and an electronic die cutter (e.g. Cricut Expression – $199.99, Silhouette Cameo – […]
Hello everyone! It’s time for another new release at Neat and Tangled! Today the design team is showcasing a new digital stamp: Warm Wishes! (FREE with any order placed from Nov 22 to Dec 1 using code WARMWISHES at checkout) I’ve been wanting to make a circled background card for a while and thought this new digi would be perfect for it. I drew the circled background in Silhoutte Studio (you can download a free copy of the .studio file below). I resized the digital stamp to 1-5/8″ in Word and printed it on some patterned paper. I then punch it out with my 1-3/4″ circle punch as well as some other patterned paper from Pebbles: Front Porch collection. Thank you for stopping by! Don’t forget to check out the other DT examples and enter the giveaways at Neat and Tangled! SUPPLIES Download the free circled background cut file here: .studio file. * […]
Hello everyone! Following the Halloween Activity List I shared here, I’ve made a Boo Street Halloween decoration for the Pebbles Blog! I would like to share how I made the octagon boxes (frames). You can prepare the squares with your scoring board or download and cut the squares with the .studio file I have put together for your Silhouette. Preparation: Cut 6 Squares – [Option 1] Download the PDF pattern here. Please find the preview below. We will need to prepare 4 of the square and 2 of the square. You can pre-score the fold lines for crisp folds. – [Option 2] Download the .studio cutting file here. Please find the preview below. I’ve included all 6 squares needed in the file. The last two squares are for the top and bottom covers with which you can choose to cut on some different patterned paper. Folding/Assembly Steps: [Video Tutorial] [Photo Tutorial] […]
Hello everyone! Welcome to Pebbles Back to Basics Blog Hop! We are focusing on Pebbles Basics Line today. I did some mix-and-match on this 3D flower top gift box. All of the paper I used are from Basics Medium Weight Paper Pad 12″X12″. There are 6 patterns in 8 colors in this pad. I love that there is a cute floral pattern (as seen in purple here) among the other timeless basic patterns: swiss dot, polka dot, zigzag, gingham and notebook paper. Look how well the colors go together! The circled hello is a chipboard shape from Basics Chips Printed Chipboard Pieces. The pink flower center is from Pebbles Candy Dots: Bonbons. The Twine is from American Crafts Baker’s Twine Value Pack ( which is a great color match to the Pebbles Basics paper pad). The box was cut by Silhouette. All the score lines are actually perforated by the […]
Hello everyone! Have you noticed the new Stamp Material released by Silhouette? I was very excited about the possibility of making prototypes for my own stamp designs with Silhouette electronic die cut machine. But I’m still waiting on the Stamp Cutting Mat so I just played with the Stamp Material with some metal dies (manual die cutting). There are 3 sheets of 7-1/2″ x 6″ stamp material in one package and retails at $6.99. The sheets are less than 1/16″ thick and made of acrylic. The acrylic material is slippery. I don’t think it would be a problem if I were using the Stamp Cutting Mat with the blade cutting system. But my challenge was to prevent the dies from sliding while die cutting. The best combination I found is to remove the material from the backing sheet and put on a piece of cardstock, then put a piece of […]
