Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Hello everyone and welcome to the Waffle Flower Craft's Giveaway Blog!

Today we are so excited to sponsor and play along with the Spring + Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

WHEN: Friday, May 25 - Friday, June 1
THEME: Spring | Summer
USE: coffee, tea &/or cocoa images

And here is my card!

First, I stamped the background scene using the landscape stamp from the Salty Kisses Stamp Set and a sentiment from the Stay Cool Stamp Set in Versafine Onyx Black onto an A2 panel of watercolor paper. I then stamped the bear and towel from the Stay Cool Stamp Set and the frozen coffee from the Drink To That Stamp Set in VersaFine Onyx Black onto a scrap of watercolor paper. Next, I watercolored the beach scene and the other images in with Tombow Dual Brush Pens (Sky & Water: 493, Boat & Swim Trunks: 885 & 847, Bear & Coffee: 977, Sand: 993, Towel: 245 & 133, Coffee Label: 346). I also, carefully, free-handed the Starbucks label on the coffee with a Tombow Dual Brush Pen as well.

Once the images were dry, I die cut the bear and the towel out with the matching dies and fussy cut the coffee out with scissors. I also made a small cut along the bear's arm then slid the drink under and held it in place with foam tape. Next, trimmed the panel and adhered it to an A2 top-fold card base. Lastly I adhered the bear and towel together, then stuck them to the card front with foam tape. And that's it! ;)

We are providing a $25 gift certificate to WaffleFlower.com to a random winner!

There are many other super sponsors for this hop, check out all the deets here!

Remember to qualify for the prizes, you will need to link up a newly created Spring + Summer themed Coffee, Tea &/or Cocoa Project, no back-linking please. Thank you for stopping by!

Layton's Legacy Blog Hop

Hello everyone! Today we are participating in a very special blog hop created by fabulous Lea Lawson to support families who find themselves thrust into NICU life. Read below Lea shares her heartfelt story!

"Today a dream of mine is coming true, as this Card Drive & Fundraiser goes live in honor of my sweet little bear, Layton Caleb. Hi friends! In case you don't know me, my name is Lea Lawson & I've been part of this wonderful papercrafting industry since 2002. Today is extremely special to me, and let me introduce the baby behind the blog hop!

Meet Layton - our little fighter and hero for 5 months & 7 days. Layton came into this world 11 weeks early on June 9th, 2016 with 2 serious health conditions. He endured more medically on a daily basis than most adults face in an entire lifetime. And on November 17, 2016 he joined his big sister in Heaven.

We were given those 5 months with Layton thanks to the level 4 NICU & amazing medical staff at The University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital. There are 50 beds in that NICU, and it is ALWAYS full. In honor of Layton's birthday, I am raising money to purchase substantial Starbucks gift cards that can be given to these parents as they find themselves thrust into NICU life.

Why Starbucks? There is one just across the street from the hospital, and I can attest that some days you just need to step out of the hospital for a moment. Get a breath of fresh air, see some natural light & regroup. I was given a $20 Starbucks card that had been donated to the NICU during the time Layton was a patient, and I cried when I opened it. My son was getting million dollar care, and I was there day in & day out doing everything I could for him. It was stressful, scary, and one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life. Getting that gift card felt like someone was also thinking about us, and trying to help take care of us too.

I can only do so much as just one person, but together we can accomplish SO much more! Plus - we are making it fun! We have a huge Card Drive blog hop going on in Layton's honor, with tons of amazing inspiration! We also have a fundraising effort, where every $5 donated gets you an entry into the prize drawing. There are over $2000 in prizes, sponsored by some of the most amazing stamping & papercrafting companies in the industry!"

For more ways you can help please visit Lea's blog.

BLOG HOP

"Not only is this a fundraiser, but also a super inspiring blog hop with MANY stops along the way! As you hop along, you will see amazing cards created with a very special theme. I created this moodboard when we started planning Layton's nursery, and it is my very heart poured into a graphic."

"I am so excited to hop along, and see all the creations inspired by my beautiful boy! There are going to be so many happy tears shed this month on my part."

Using Lea’s sweet mood board as inspiration, I decided to use the adorable Autumn Time Stamp Set and matching dies to create my card.

First, I stamped several images from the Autumn Time Stamp Set onto Canson Coldpress Watercolor paper in VersaFine Onyx Black ink. I then watercolored the images with Distress Inks, by smooshing the ink pad directly down onto a piece of plastic, which I use a my palette and then mixing very small amounts of water to the ink with a 1 round paint brush to make the ink more fluid. I used Rusty Hinge and Aged Mahogany for the Fox, Tea Dye and Walnut Stain for the tree stump, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo for the Hedgehog, Mowed Lawn and Lucky Clover for the leaves, Candied Apple for the berries, and Candied Apple, Fired Brick, and Antique Linen for the mushrooms.

Once I had finished the watercoloring I die cut all the images out with the matching dies. I then die cut an A2 panel from watercolor paper using the Lacy Layers Die and then created a quick background wash using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. When the panel was dry I stamped a sentiment from the Always Stamp Set in VersaFine Onyx Black and then I adhered the panel onto an A2 top folding card base. Next I adhered all my images with either foam tape or liquid adhesive. To finish off the card, I made a small hole along the fold of the card base with an x-acto knife, fed some black and white twine through and then tied it into a bow.

I hope you enjoyed my card! We are so grateful to be able to contribute to this worthy cause. I hope you enjoy the rest of the hop and please check out Lea’s blog for more ways to help!

Once I finished the blending I spritzed the panel with water. I then stamped images from the Across the Miles stamp set in Memento Tuxedo black onto white cardstock.

Next, I copic colored and die cut with the matching dies the stamped images. I then stamped a sentiment from the In Every Way Stamp Set onto the panel with Memento Tuxedo Black. Next, I adhered the panel to an A2 top-folding white card base and then adhered the clouds with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. [Guest & Giveaway] Ombre Stamped Stitched Cup of Tea by Lydia Evans

Hi there everyone, it's Lydia here from Lydia Evans Design. I'm so excited to be guesting here today over on the Waffle Flower Blog. I was sooooo lucky to meet the amazing Nina earlier this year so this makes me even more happy to be sharing with you guys!

Okay, so I'm in LOVE with this stamp set! I just love how cute these little tea images are and that they have little cute faces makes me smile mide when I use them.

Even though they are solid stamps that does't mean that they have to be all the same colour- by double stamping them with different inks you can get many different looks- I hope my video inspires you to give it a try!
