Hello everyone! It’s Channin here with a new video for Technique Tuesday!! This week I’m demonstrating a different approach you might take for enhancing your more solid stamped images, I’m calling it “Shadowing and White Gel Pen Accents by Channin.
With these two simple techniques you can add a lot of depth and interest to your more solid (less negative space) images.

First, I stamped all my images and sentiment from the Enveloper Birthday Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black (an alcohol-marker friendly ink) on a kraft 5x7 panel cut using the largest die from the Lacy Layers 5x7 Die set. I then chose a light and a medium alcohol marker in similar color family as my kraft paper. Starting with my medium shade I colored around all the images as well as the inside of the kitty and the girl’s face. After I colored all the images with my medium shade I moved onto my lighter marker and colored adjacent to where I colored previously
After I finished my coloring with my lighter shade I moved onto adding white gel pen accents. First I colored all the negative spaces inside the images except for the body of the kitty and girl’s face. Next, I add a few more details and colored inside some of the solid black areas. Once all my gel pen accents were completed I adhered my panel onto an A7 card base (10x7 cardstock folded in half to create a 5x7 card) made from kraft paper.
I created two other cards with this technique and the Enveloper Birthday Stamp Set. I just used different colored card stock and different alcohol markers.
Here’s yet one more example of this technique but this time with a different stamp set, the Bowitiful Stamp Set. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!!
