[WIW] Utilizing Scraps by Channin

Hello everyone! It’s Channin here with a new Watch It Wednesday video! In today’s video I show you a couple ideas for utilizing scraps by making two cards with the scraps from last week’s project. Yup that’s right these cards were made with scraps! Check out the video below to get all the details.

[WIW] Utilizing Scraps by Channin

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

First, I arrange my left over solid domes made using the smallest die from the A2 Nested Dome Die and 5 different shades of colored cardstock in rainbow order. I then formed a continuous circle with the rainbow of domes. Next, I added dabs of Tombow Mono Liquid adhesive onto the domes and then adhered an A2 panel (4.25” x 5.5”) onto the domes. I then placed some weight onto the panel and set it aside to dry. Once, the glue had tried I trimmed the overhanging domes with a pair of scissors.

I then stamped and colored a girl from the Hooray Stamp Set with alcohol markers and then die cut her out with the Hooray Matching Die set. Next, I die cut a vellum balloon using a die from the Congrats Die set and then tied some twine to its base. I then stamped and white heat embossed a sentiment from the Hooray Stamp Set on a scrap of white cardstock. Lastly, I adhered the panel onto an A2 top-folding card base, then adhered the girl and the sentiment with foam tape and then adhered the balloon and some twine to her hand with some liquid adhesive.

For this card, I started with several white arches that I had cut last week with the A2 Nested Dome Die set. I assembled 3 complete sets of 5 arches and then separated the arches out by size. Next, I adhered each set onto a A2 panel. Once dried I trimmed the overhang with scissors. I then adhered some of the left over strips of colored cardstock onto a scrap of white cardstock. I then stamped the heart balloon from the Congrats Stamp Set onto the rainbow, then die cut the balloon out with the matching die and then tied some twine to its base.

Next, I stamped and colored the same girl from the Hooray Stamp Set with alcohol markers and then die cut her out with the matching die set. I then stamped and white heat embossed a sentiment from the Hooray Stamp Set on a scrap of black cardstock. Lastly, I adhered the panel onto an A2 top-folding card base, then adhered the girl, balloon, and sentiment with foam tape, and then adhered the twine to her hand with some liquid adhesive.

I hope you enjoyed! Thanks so much for stopping by!

[WIW] Inlaid Rainbow Domes by Channin

Hello everyone! It’s Channin here for Watch It Wednesday with a colorful set of cards to share with you today! With some simple inlaid die cutting and a rainbow of colored cardstocks, I create 5 cards that could fit a variety of different occasions! Plus you definitely don’t want to miss my trick for positioning nesting dies perfectly, just like they were before you clip them apart!

[WIW] Inlaid Rainbow Domes by Channin

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

First, I aligned the 6 dome dies from the A2 Nested Domes Die set, one inside of the other, and then used painter’s tape to hold them all together. I then used this taped set of dies to die cut 2 sets of domes from 5 different shades of colored cardstock. I then also used the same set of taped dies to cut an A2 panel made from 110lb white cardstock twice to create negative spaces for the colored arches. I then adhered the largest section of the panel onto an A2 white cardbase.

I then nested different colored arches, in ascending order, up against the adhered panel section and glued them in place. Next, I trimmed the overhang. I then stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from the Congrats Stamp Set on a scrap of black cardstock, trimmed it, and then added foam tape. Next, using the Celebrate Word Die I die cut the rest of my sentiment out of white cardstock and craft foam and then glued the two together. Lastly, I adhered both sentiments onto the card front with a couple clear sequins to finish it all off.

I hope you enjoyed! Thanks so much for stopping by!

[WIW] Window Card + Perfectly Aligned Die Cuts by Amanda

Hello everyone! Amanda here with a window card for you where I will also show you a couple of tricks for using die cuts.

I always find it very difficult to align stamped images and coordinating dies, that's why i like to use a technique that gives me perfect results. You can watch the video for details.

[WIW] Window Card + Perfectly Aligned Die Cuts by Amanda

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

Once I had all the images from Bear & Bird and and Tea for Two were ready, I colored them using Copic Markers and also added color to the background with Distress ink. To create the window I used one of the rectangles from Lacy Layers 5 x 7 and die cut it partially to get those stitched lines.

Then I stamped a sentiment from the Congrats Stamp Set in one of the panels, arranged all the images the way I wanted them and sticked both panels to the card using foam tape.

Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!

[Technique] Color Blocking with Layering Marble by Channin

Hello everyone! It’s Channin here with a new technique video to share! This week I’m having some fun with design by playing with blocks of color and pattern to create 3 color blocking inspired cards. Using the Layering Marble Stamp Set, I created beautiful marble pattern paper and paired it with rich colored cardstock and a simple color blocking technique to make create 3 quick and easy cards.

[Technique] Color Blocking with Layering Marble by Channin

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

First, I cut 5 A2 (4.25 x 5.5) panels of 65lb white cardstock,1 A2 panel of 65lb dark grey cardstock, and 1 A2 panel of 65lb teal cardstock. Next, using the Layering Marble Stamp Set, I created a marble background on one of the white panels using Like a Pro Dye Ink for the first layer, Tsukineko Brilliance Lightning Black of the second layer, and Memento Tuxedo black for the final layer. I then created my color blocking template by dividing one of the white panels up into 3 triangle sections with a ruler and then cutting the sections out with a paper trimmer.

Then by tracing the triangles from the template, I transferred the triangle design onto the marble, teal and gray panel. Next, I cut out all the triangles from the 3 panels using a paper trimmer. Then, using the template as a guide, I constructed 3 mixed panels by incorporating one section from each one of the colored/patterned panels.

Once I had my panels constructed, I adhered each one down on the remaining 3 white panel with liquid adhesive. I then adhered these mixed panels onto 3 top-folding white 110lb cardbase. Next, I diecut Congrats, Celebrate, and Perfect from gold foil cardstock and white craft foam using the Congrats, Celebrate, and Perfect Word Dies.

I then adhered the gold sentiments onto the corresponding foam sentiment with liquid adhesive. I then stamped and gold embossed additional sentiments from the Congrats and Little Mermaids Stamp Sets on each of the cards. Lastly, I adhered the dimensional gold sentiments with liquid adhesive to each card.

I hope you enjoyed and have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by!

[In the Details] Plaid Play Background by Nichol Spohr

Hello! Nichol here today with my favorite way to create a custom stamped plaid background. The new Plaid Play Stamp Set creates all kinds of amazing plaid designs. I love stamping the lines at a diagonal as it tends to be more forgiving if you don’t get it stamped exactly straight. I also love using some sort of pigment ink as I find the coverage is more consistent. I love the Distress Oxide Inks for this technique and they layer to make the most awesome plaid designs!

VIDEO

I stamped the Plaid Play background using Fossilized Amber, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Inks. Balloons from the Congrats Stamp Set were stamped on white cardstock with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder before being inked with the same colors of Distress Oxide Ink. The balloons were adorned with thin twine and adhered to the card with foam adhesive and the strings wrapped around the back of the panel and secured with tape.

The Celebrate die was die cut from smooth white yardstick adhered to Fun Foam and adhered to the card as shown for a dimensional greeting. An additional greeting from the Congrats Stamp Set was stamped and embossed in white on black cardstock, cut into a thin strip and adhered below the dimensional die cut sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

[Technique] Distress Oxides with DIY Stamp by Channin

[Technique] Distress Oxides with DIY Stamp by Channin

Hello everyone! It’s Channin here with a new technique video to share with you all! This week I’m playing with a rainbow of Distress Oxides and combining them with a DIY stamp I created using the absolutely gorgeous Pretty Butterflies Dies. Check out the video below to get all the details.

[Technique] Distress Oxides with DIY Stamp by Channin

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

First, I created my stamp by diecutting the largest butterfly from the Pretty Butterfly Die set from a scrap of craft foam. I then mounted the foam butterfly on a acrylic block using tape adhesive. Next I inked up the stamp with 6 different colors of Distress Oxides (Wilted Violet, Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, Crack Pistachio, & Broken China) to create a rainbow on the stamp. I then spritzed the stamp with a fine mist of water then stamped it down on an A2 panel (4.25 x 5.5) of 110lb kraft paper and then immediately after on an A2 panel of 110lb white cardstock.

I then repeated the process several more times, however sometimes I did not stop at just 2nd generation stamping but continued on and did 3rd or 4th generation stamping. Once my panels were well covered I misted the entire kraft panel with a fine mist of water and set both panels to dry. Next, I created a dimensional butterfly embellishments using the same butterfly die from the Pretty Butterflies Die set.

I die cut 4 white butterflies and 3 kraft butterflies. I then adhered one white butterfly and one kraft butterfly onto a scrap of vellum. I then cut around the butterflies so that they had a vellum mat. I then glued two more white butterflies diecuts together and two kraft butterflies together and then adhered the stacked white ones under the vellum mat of the white butterfly embellishment and the stacked kraft ones on top of the vellum of the kraft butterfly embellishment.

Then to finish off the embellishments, I adhered the final white butterfly on the top of the white butterfly stack. With my butterfly embellishments finished, I stamped a sentiment from the Congrats Stamp Set on a strip of mint cardstock in Worn Lipstick and then stamped it again on a strip of kraft cardstock in embossing ink and then heat embossed it in white. Lastly, I adhered the stamped panels onto their corresponding A2 card bases (4.25 x 11), then adhered the dimensional butterfly accents, and then added the sentiments with foam tape. I hope you enjoyed!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

[Technique] Embossing with Dies by Channin

Hello everyone! It's Channin here and today I’m bringing you an oldie but a goodie, embossing with your dies! Actually, this is a new one for me. Though I’ve know about this technique for years, I have never tried this technique before this video. But after I saw Sunshine’s amazing sample card using the new Stitched Morning Glories stamps and matching dies I knew I had to give this technique a try! Also I share how to embossing with 3 different die cutting machines in the video so hopefully everyone is covered!

[Technique] Embossing with Dies by Channin

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

First, I stamped the largest morning glory from the Morning Glories Stamp Set on a scrap of white cardstock using partial inking technique to add depth to the image. I used the the acetate that the stamp set comes on to align each stamp layer to achieve perfect alignment of the cross-stitches. Next, I diecut around the flower using the largest hoop in the Embroidery Hoops Die. Then I embossed the stamped morning glory using the matching Stitched Morning Glories Dies and a silicone rubber embossing mat. No matter which die cutting machine you use the silicone rubber mat is essential for this technique. Luckily if you don’t have one already they are fairly inexpensive ($7.00) and readily available.

After I embossed the morning glory I then embossed the front of a top-folding A2 white card base with the beautiful Lacy Panel Die. Next, I diecut the largest hoop again but this time using a woodgrain patterned paper. I then stamped a sentiment from the Planted Stamp Set around the flower by curving the stamps on the MISTI in Versafine Onyx Black ink. Then using scotch tape I adhered the woodgrain frame of the hoop to the stamped inner circle. Next, I adhered craft foam to the back of the hoop and then the hoop onto my white card base with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid glue.

For this card, I stamped the morning glories on a A2 card base and then stamped the sentiment from the Congrats Stamp Set. I then embossing the flowers and sentiment with the matching dies.

And for this last card, I stamped the morning glory then embossed it with the matching dies while I also embossed frame with the Lacy Layers 2 Die and the Patched Layers Die. Lastly, I stamped a sentiment from the Flower Circles Stamp Set in Versafine Onyx Black. I hope you enjoyed, thanks so much for stopping by!

[In the Details] Tea for Two Trifold Card by Nichol Spohr

Hello there! Nichol here today with a trifold card featuring the new Tea For Two Stamp Set and coordinating dies. This adorable new set designed by Big Bear and Bird for Waffle Flower coordinates wonderfully with the previously released Happy Day Stamp Set. Multiple images from each stamp set were used to fill a trifold design card.

[In the Details] Tea for Two Trifold Card by Nichol Spohr

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

The card base was created from a 5 1/2” x 12” piece of Bristol Smooth Cardstock and inked with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. A border was die cut from another 12” long piece of Bristol Smooth Cardstock using a new Scenery Die. The border was inked with Peeled Paint Distress Ink. Both pieces were spritzed with water from a Distress Sprayer and blotted dry with a paper towel. The panels were scored 4” from each end to make the trifold design.

Images from the Tea For Two and Happy Day Stamp Sets were stamped on smooth white cardstock using black ink and colored in with Copic Markers before being die cut with the coordinating dies. The die cut images were adhered to the card as shown to build the extended scene. Greetings and thought bubbles from the Congrats Stamp Set were stamped on the panels to finish the design.

Thanks for stopping by!
