[In the Details] Boo Halloween Shaker by Nichol Spohr

Hello there! Nichol here today with a Halloween shaker card featuring the Boo Stamp Set and coordinating dies. I find that my favorite shakers are ones where there is stuff going on inside the shaker, on the acetate window, and on the front of the frame! Even though this is a simple design, this adorable Halloween card is sweetly spooky and the interactive shaker element adds lots of fun!

The inside of the shaker was created by stamping the open moon image from the Starry Night Stamp Set on Bristol Smooth paper using Versamark Ink and heat embossing with white embossing powder. The moon and sky were watercolored and set aside to air dry. The front of the shaker was created by die cutting white cardstock with a Lacy Layers Die and a Flower Circles Inverted Die. The frames were secured together with adhesive and backed with a piece of acetate stamped with the spider web image from the Boo Stamp Set using white StazOn Ink.

The “boo” greeting was stamped in the lower right corner of the shaker frame using black ink. The rest of the images from the Boo Stamp Set were stamped on smooth white cardstock, colored in with Copic Markers, and die cut with the coordinating Boo Dies. The bats were adhered to the “inside” of the shaker and the rest of the images on the shaker front. Two layers of foam tape were used to frame up the shaker window and silver and clear star confetti and sequins were used to fill it.

[In the Details] Plaid Play Background by Nichol Spohr

Hello! Nichol here today with my favorite way to create a custom stamped plaid background. The new Plaid Play Stamp Set creates all kinds of amazing plaid designs. I love stamping the lines at a diagonal as it tends to be more forgiving if you don’t get it stamped exactly straight. I also love using some sort of pigment ink as I find the coverage is more consistent. I love the Distress Oxide Inks for this technique and they layer to make the most awesome plaid designs!

I stamped the Plaid Play background using Fossilized Amber, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Inks. Balloons from the Congrats Stamp Set were stamped on white cardstock with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder before being inked with the same colors of Distress Oxide Ink. The balloons were adorned with thin twine and adhered to the card with foam adhesive and the strings wrapped around the back of the panel and secured with tape.

The Celebrate die was die cut from smooth white yardstick adhered to Fun Foam and adhered to the card as shown for a dimensional greeting. An additional greeting from the Congrats Stamp Set was stamped and embossed in white on black cardstock, cut into a thin strip and adhered below the dimensional die cut sentiment.

Backgrounds were inked by masking off portions of cardstock with post it tape and using an Ink Duster to apply Waffle Flower My Pleasure, Oh Happy Day, You Said What, Chirp Chirp, Daydreaming, and Happy Go Lucky inks to form a rainbow rays background.

Borders were die cut from smooth white cardstock using a Scenery Die and layered along the bottom edge of the background. A greeting from the Monochrome Stamp Set was stamped on one of the cloud borders using black ink.

The images were adhered to the backgrounds as shown and the card was finished by applying Glossy accents to some of the images.

[In the Details] Tea for Two Trifold Card by Nichol Spohr

Hello there! Nichol here today with a trifold card featuring the new Tea For Two Stamp Set and coordinating dies. This adorable new set designed by Big Bear and Bird for Waffle Flower coordinates wonderfully with the previously released Happy Day Stamp Set. Multiple images from each stamp set were used to fill a trifold design card.

The card base was created from a 5 1/2” x 12” piece of Bristol Smooth Cardstock and inked with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. A border was die cut from another 12” long piece of Bristol Smooth Cardstock using a new Scenery Die. The border was inked with Peeled Paint Distress Ink. Both pieces were spritzed with water from a Distress Sprayer and blotted dry with a paper towel. The panels were scored 4” from each end to make the trifold design.

Images from the Tea For Two and Happy Day Stamp Sets were stamped on smooth white cardstock using black ink and colored in with Copic Markers before being die cut with the coordinating dies. The die cut images were adhered to the card as shown to build the extended scene. Greetings and thought bubbles from the Congrats Stamp Set were stamped on the panels to finish the design.

[In the Details] Framed up Morning Glories by Nichol

Hello! Nichol here today with a card featuring the brand new Stitched Morning Glories Stamp Set and Embroidery Hoops Dies. The embroidery hoops are the perfect frames for these gorgeous stitched flowers!

[In the Details] Framed up Morning Glories by Nichol

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

The Stitched Morning Glories were stamped on smooth white cardstock with Safe Choice, Happy Go Lucky, New Fish In Pond, Daydreaming, You Said What, and Chirp Chirp Inks. The flowers or parts of the flowers were die cut with the medium and small Embroidery Hoops dies, keeping the center pieces. The embroidery hoops were die cut again from cardstock adhered to Fun Foam and then inked with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

The background of the card was created from some light blue cardstock die cut with a Patched Layers Die for that great stitching detail along the edges. A greeting from the Notions Stamp Set was stamped in the lower left corner using Like A Pro Ink. Additional images from the Notions Stamp Set were stamped all over the background using New Fish In Pond Ink for a tone-on-tone look. The dimensional embroidery hoop frames and stamped flowers were adhered to the background as shown and the whole panel was adhered to a white top fold card base to complete the design.

Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for stopping by!

[In the Details] Repeating Pattern Greeting Backgrounds by Nichol

Hello friends! Nichol here today with a card featuring a background with a repeating pattern stamped with greetings from the Pawsome Stamp Set. I took the Tickled Pink, Safe Choice, My Pleasure, Oh Happy Day, You Said What, Chirp Chirp, New Fish In Pond, Daydreaming, and Happy Go Lucky Waffle Flower Inks and repeatedly stamped a background using a sentiment phrase from the Pawsome Stamp Set on smooth white cardstock. The rainbow look is one of my favorites and showcases the gorgeous inks plus makes for a stunning rainbow background!

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

The panel was die cut with a Patched Layers Die to give a decorative look to the outer edges of the background. Dogs and heart images from the Pawsome Stamp Set were stamped on smooth white cardstock and colored in with Copic Markers before being die cut with the coordinating Pawsome Dies. The dogs were adhered with foam adhesive below the repeating greeting and the hearts and accents were layered over and around the background, matching the rainbow color/order of the design. Glossy Accents was applied over the hearts for a glossy, dimensional finish.

On the inside of the card I stamped the greeting again and finished with rainbow hearts surrounding the greeting stamped with the Waffle Flower Inks.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Nichol

[In the Details] Metallic Lacy Flowers by Nichol

[In the Details] Metallic Lacy Flowers by Nichol

Hello! Nichol here today with one of my very favorite techniques, using metallic water colors to color in images embossed on dark cardstock. Metallic Watercolors, like the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors show up beautifully on darker cardstock. I stamped the Lacy Flowers images on a dark gray cardstock with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with a platinum embossing powder.

[In the Details] Metallic Lacy Flowers by Nichol

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

The designs were repeated over the cardstock strip to give the illusion of a larger piece of paper being trimmed down for a card. Creating my own backgrounds is one of my favorite things to do! Once the images were embossed, I used a water brush pen to pick up the Starry Colors and paint or “color in” the different areas of the embossed Lacy Flowers. The metallic sparkle look is striking against a dark background.

Once dry, the watercolored strip was adhered to a white side fold card base. A greeting from the Lacy Flowers Stamp Set was stamped and embossed with gold embossing powder above the top of the strip. Two thin black strips of cardstock were used to “frame up” the strip. For the dimensional greeting, gold foil cardstock was adhered to Fun Foam with Stick It Adhesive and the With Love Die was used to die cut a beautiful scripty greeting! The greeting was adhered to the card as shown to complete the sentiment and the cards were finished with a scattering of Nuvo Crystal Drops in metallic colors.

[In the Details] Faux Stained Glass Butterfly by Nichol Spohr

Hi there! It's Nichol here with a new video of Waffle Flower's In the Details series!  Today I'll show you how to create this beautiful faux stained glass butterfly and an embossed marbled background!

[In the Details] Faux Stained Glass Butterfly by Nichol Spohr

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

A layered marble background is the perfect backdrop for a beautiful faux stained glass butterfly accent. I layered shades of gray inks and gold embossing on the smooth white background with the Layering Marble Stamp Set.

A greeting from the Lotus Stamp Set was stamped with black ink directly on the background. Butterfly accents were die cut from a sandwich of gold foil cardstock, stick it, and fun foam using the Pretty Butterflies Dies. The gold foil is the perfect outline for a faux stained glass look.

The dimensional butterflies were adhered to the cards as shown and the open areas filled with Glossy Accents. For a more opaque look, consider filling the openings with colorful Nuvo Crystal drops instead of clear. The cards were finished with a scattering of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Pale Gold, Silver Lining, and Oyster Grey.

[In the Details] Greeting Within a Greeting by Nichol

Hello all! It's Nichol here with a new In the Details video!

A skinny, tall alphabet stamp set, like the Cutaway Alpha Stamp Set that I used for today’s card, is perfect for the greeting within a greeting technique.

[In the Details] Greeting Within a Greeting by Nichol

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

I die cut a background from Bristol Smooth Cardstock using a Stitched Layers Die. The greeting from the Stay Cool Stamp Set was stamped on the background with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. A thin strip mask was used to cover up the greeting and then the Cutaway Alpha was used to stamp the “Hello” greeting over the “Stay Cool” greeting.

Once the mask is removed the sentiment has the look of a single greeting with the phrase “inside” the larger sentiment! Embossed resist was used to create an “ocean” and beach over the background and sentiment. White Distress Paint was used to create the look of the foam. Images from the Stay Cool Stamp Set were stamped on smooth white cardstock with black ink and colored in with Copic Markers before being die cut with the matching dies. The images were adhered to the card as shown to finish the scene.

I hope you enjoyed! Thanks for stopping by!

[In the Details] Across the Miles with Vellum Dimension by Nichol Spohr

Hello! It's Nichol here with another In the Details card and video!

One of my favorite ways to add dimension without bulk is to add vellum layers to a card scene. Vellum is fantastic for muting something that might be too bold or bright and it also makes a great layering accent like the stamped and embossed clouds from the Across The Miles Stamp Set that I used for my card today.

[In the Details] Across the Miles with Vellum Dimension by Nichol Spohr

Watch below or on our Youtube channel.

A background was die cut from Bristol Smooth Cardstock using a Patched Layers die. Clouds from Across The Miles were stamped using Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder before being inked over with Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink for embossed resist clouds.

Additional clouds were stamped and embossed on vellum before being die cut with the coordinating Across The Miles dies and layered over the background. Bright hot air balloon images and cute birds were stamped on smooth white cardstock and colored in with Copic Markers before being die cut and added to the card design. A greeting and banner from Across The Miles was stamped and embossed on vellum and then wrapped around the large hot air balloon for the card sentiment.

An additional sentiment was stamped inside the card to finish the design.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Nichol
