[Technique] Letter Substitution, Teacher Thank You Cards by Channin

Hello all! It’s Channin here with a new technique video to share. This week I decided to revisit one of my absolute favorite techniques, letter substitution. Several of the new sets from our spring release work so well with this technique but today I focus on the Pencil In set and create some teacher appreciation cards.

[Technique] Letter Substitution, Teacher Thank You Cards by Channin

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

First, I stamped a background with small stamps from the Pencil In Stamp Set onto an A2 panel die cut using the largest die from the A2 Nesting Rectangles 1 Die set. I used a patterned stamping technique to make stamping the entire panel quick and simple. I arranged several small stamps from the Pencil In set within the lower right quartered section of the panel and then stamped the images in Coffee Loves Milk. Next, I rotated the panel 180 degrees and then inked the stamps and stamped again. I then rearranged the small stamps into the lower left quarter of the panel and repeated the above process again.

I then stamped, copic colored, and then die cut out with the matching dies the standing boy and girl from the Pencil In set. Next, I arranged the letters T-H-A-K and O-U from the Cutaway Alpha Stamp Set onto my panel to spell out thank you but I substituted the girl and boy for the letters N and Y. Once arranged correctly I inked the letters in Memento Tuxedo Black and then stamped. Lastly, I adhered my panel to an A2 top-folding card base with liquid glue and then added the girl and boy with foam tape.

I hope you enjoyed today’s technique! Thanks so much for stopping by!

[Technique] DIY Pop Up Watercolor Card by Channin

Hello all! It’s Channin here with a new technique video! Today I’m creating a pop up card using several images from the sweet Spring Time and Hoppy Sets. After some simple watercoloring using Tombow Dual Brush Pens, I created my own pop up mechanism for the inside of the card and adhered the images to it to create a festive easter scene.

[Technique] DIY Pop Up Watercolor Card by Channin

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

First I stamped the inside and front of an A2 card base made from Canson cold press watercolor paper with images and sentiments from the Spring Time and Hoppy Stamp Sets in Versafine Onyx Black (a waterproof ink).

Next, I watercolored the images in with Tombow Dual Brush Pens (173, 132, 743, 925, 493). I then stamped more images on watercolor paper in Versafine and watercolored them with my Dual Brush Pens as well (173, 132, 743, 925, 493, 993, 055, N89, 636, 603, 977, 879).

When dry I die cut them out with the matching dies. Next, I scored and folded my pop up mechanism (2”x 5 1/2” and scored lengthwise at 1/2”, 1”, & 1 1/2”) and then adhered it inside the card. I then adhered by scene to the mechanism. Lastly I added some images to the card front with some foam tape.

I hope you enjoyed today’s video and card. Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

[Technique] Faux Bejeweling with Cross Stitch Stamps by Channin

Hello all! It’s Channin here with a new technique video to share. This week I have a new spin on Waffle Flower’s cross stitch stamp sets. In today’s video I combine Nuvo Jewel Drops with several WF cross stitch stamp sets (Stitched Cacti, Stitched Cup for Tea, Stitched Peonies) to create a fun bejeweled look.

[Technique] Faux Bejeweling with Cross Stitch Stamps by Channin

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

First, I stamped a cactus from the Stitched Cacti Stamp Set in distress oxides (cracked pistachio, twisted citron, abandoned coral, wild honey). Then with Nuvo Jewel Drops, I made small drops on each one of the x’s in the image with the corresponding jewel drop color (Key Lime, Strawberry Coulis, Limoncello).

Once the drops were dry I added Black Tie Enamel Accents to the eyes. When the entire image was dry, I fussy cut the cactus out. I then stamped a sentiment from the Hello Stamp Set in VersaFine Onyx Black onto a yellow A2 top-folding card base (4.25” x 11”, scored and folded at 5.5”). Lastly, I added the cactus with foam tape.

For these two cards, I used all the same distress oxide inks as before except I didn’t use Wild Honey and stamped the pots in WF’s Daydreaming Dye Ink instead. I used all the same Nuvo Jewel Drops as previously with the addition of Sea Breeze for the pots. I also used a sentiment from the Hoppy Stamp Set.

For this card I used the Stitched Cup of Tea Stamp Set and WF inks Tickled Pink, My Pleasure, You Said What, and Oh Happy Day for the images.

I used Strawberry Coulis, Limoncello and Rosewater Nuvo drops and the sentiment is from the Books & Coffee Stamp Set.

For this last card, I used the Stitched Peonies Stamp Set with WF inks Tickled Pink, My Pleasure, and Oh Happy Day and Distress Oxide Cracked Pistachio for the leaves and stems. This stamp set has a matching die so I used the die instead of fussy cutting these flowers.

I also used Strawberry Coulis, Limoncello, Rosewater, and Key Lime Nuvo drops and the Embroidered Greeting for the sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed! Thanks for stopping by!

[Fun Friday] Thank You Notes by Amanda

[Fun Friday] Thank You Notes by Amanda

Hi there everyone! It's Amanda here and today I wanted to show you how easy it is to make a lot of Thank You notes with the "Love Notes" die. You'll find all the details in the video tutorial.

[Fun Friday] Thank You Notes by Amanda

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

Most of the work is made by the die, so the only thing left is to decorate and create a small card for the inside of the envelope. I used the stamp set "Spring Time" to add a few flowers and then colored them with pencils. I also thought it would be cool to make an envelope with vellum paper and put a colorful card inside.

I used Distress Oxides to color the small card and also added a couple of flowers with Archival Black Ink.

Thank you so much for stopping by and see you next time!"

Amanda

[WIW] Toadally Circle Slider Card by Channin

Hello Waffle Flower Friends! It’s Channin here with a new Watch It Wednesday video! In today’s video I share how to create this circle slider card featuring the new Toadally stamps and dies as well as the new Nesting Circles 1 Dies. This interactive card is perfect for any child’s birthday or for anyone young at heart. ;)

[WIW] Toadally Circle Slider Card by Channin

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

First, I die cut the third largest die from the A2 Nested Dome Die set from 110lb white cardstock. I then ink blended distress oxides, Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, & Salty Ocean over the panel creating a ombre look. Next, I made an A2 top-folding card base (4.25” x 11”, scored and folded at 5.5”) from green cardstock and then ink blended distress oxide Lucky Clover on the front at the base. I then stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, copic colored and then die cut with the matching dies several images from the Toadally and Pawsome sets. Next, with the 3rd and 4th largest circle dies from the Nesting Circles 1 Die set, I die cut a channel for my slide in the domed panel. I then stamped a sentiment onto domed panel in Versafine Onyx Black.

Next, I doubled up foam tape and used it to adhered the domed panel to the card front. I then glued the inner portion of the channel down onto the card front with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. I then inserted a dome and then adhered the inner circle with down with doubled up foam tape. Next, I doubled up a same square (about 1/4”) of foam tape, rounded the edges with a pair of scissors, and then adhered it to the dime. I then adhered the present and frog together using liquid glue and a strip of acetate. Lastly, I adhered the frog and present to the foam tape on the dime.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and video! Thanks so much for stopping by!

[Technique] Gatefold Card with Slide Out Message by Channin

[Technique] Gatefold Card with Slide Out Message by Channin

Hello all! It’s Channin here! In today’s technique video I demonstrate how to create a gatefold card, with a die cut window, and a slide out message! Plus I share how I “painted” these colorful images by Helen Dardik from the Enveloper Hugs, Enveloper Coffee and Enveloper Me sets.

[Technique] Gatefold Card with Slide Out Message by Channin

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

First, I stamped the largest image from the Enveloper Hugs Stamp Set in Distress Ink Tattered Rose on watercolor paper. Then I smooshed some Tattered Rose onto a plastic palette, mixed in some water, and colored in the girl’s skin. Next, I traced the entire image with several Tombow Dual Brush Pens (665, 743, 933, 993, 885, 245, 346, 173, 493, 755, 565, 977, 879) using the side with a brush tip.

Once I had finished tracing, I painted over the image with a small amount of water to reactivate the ink and then moved the ink around to color in the negative spaces. When my watercoloring was dry, I die cut the image out with the matching die.

Next, I constructed the track to house my slide out message by cutting a grid panel with the A2 Grid Panel Die out of 110lb white cardstock. I then removed the interior grid with scissors and cut away the bottom, but left a 1/8” lip to catch the message panel and stop it from sliding completely out. I then created the message panel. I started with a panel measuring 3 7/8” x 3 1/2”, then I traced a line 1/2” from the top. Next, I trimmed both of the sides down 1/8”, but stopped just before the traced line, then  i trimmed the strips off a with scissors at the traced line. Next, I constructed my card by starting with an unfolded A2 side-folding card base (5 1/2” x 8 1/2”) made from 110lb white cardstock. I then created the gatefold by scoring and folding the sides at 2 1/8”.

I then trimmed down some colored cardstock to two 5 1/2” x 2 1/8” panels and one A2 panel (5 1/2” x 4 1/4”). Next, I cut a notch with the Pull Tabs Die to make it easier to grab the message panel. I then adhered the two smaller colored panels to the card front and then die cut a window for the watercolored image with the matching die. I then put together the slide out message by adhering the grid panel to the back of the card base, then placing the message panel inside its track and then sealing it all up with the colored A2 panel. Lastly I adhered the watercolored image inside the window and then stamped my sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed today’s video and cards! Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Hello! Therese here and today it’s time to make a Rectangle Frame Card!

[Fun Friday] Rectangle Frame Card by Therese

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

To begin I used the A2 Nesting Rectangle 2 Dies to decorate and die cut my frame. Then I added some simple score lines before folding it to fit the front of my card. I added a sweet Copic colored elephant from the Jungle Birthday set and gave him a balloon to hold from Balloon Messages Set.

To finish my scene I added some white marble clouds using the Layering Marble Stamp Set in the background. The sentiment I used came from the Rock On Stamp Set and was stamped with the New Fish In Pond Ink.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a great day!

[WIW] Wild Birthday Card by Channin

Hello! It’s Channin here for Waffle Flower’s Watch It Wednesday! In today’s video I create this fun and playful birthday card. I used the new Jungle Birthday and Limo Ride Stamps and Dies with the Apartment Builder Die and 9 Grids Die to create a wild party scene!

[WIW] Wild Birthday Card by Channin

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

First, I die cut a grid panel using the 9 Grids Die, a roof with the Apartment Builder Die Set and a scalloped border with the Scenery Die Set from 110lb white cardstock. I then trimmed a square panel to fit behind the 9 grid panel and then cut and folded an A2 top-folding card base (4.25” x 11”, scored and folded at 5.5”) also from 110lb white cardstock. Next, I made a mask with the scalloped die from the Scenery Die Set and contact paper. I then ink blended Distress Oxide over the grid panel and Waffle Flower’s Like a Pro over the roof. Next I ink blended Waffle Flower’s You Said What over the square panel using the straight side of the mask to blend in rows to add warmth to the windows. I then blended a cloudy sky at the top half of the card base using the scalloped side of the mask and Memento Bahama Blue. I then finished up my blending by blending Distress Oxide Twisted Citron and Waffle Flower’s Chirp Chirp to the lower portion of my card base and the scalloped border. Next, I die cut the 9 Grids Die and the roof from the Apartment Builder Die out of craft foam and set all the die cut pieces aside.

I then stamped, copic colored, and die cut with the matching dies several images from the Jungle Birthday and Limo Ride sets. I then adhered the cardstock grid to the craft foam grid and then the pair to the square panel. Next, I adhered the cardstock roof and craft foam roof together and then set the gird and roof aside. I then added foam tape to the backside of all the images except the balloons and banner and then adhered them to the 9 grid. I then adhered the balloons and banner to the grid and then adhered the grid to the card base. Lastly, I adhered the roof and scallop border to the card front. I

hope you enjoyed today’s video and card! Thank you so much for stopping in!

[Technique] DIY Border Stamp with Ombre Inking by Channin

Hello Waffle Flower Friends! It’s Channin here with a new technique video! This week I’m creating my own border stamp with several images from the super sweet Wish Stamp Set. I then combined my DIY border stamp with rock-n-roll inking to create an ombre background. For all the details please check out the video below.

[Technique] DIY Border Stamp with Ombre Inking by Channin

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

First, I created a border stamp by arranging several small images from the Wish Stamp Set in a 1” strip on my craft mat and then picked up the images with my acrylic block. Next, I inked up my DIY border stamp in Happy Go Lucky Dye Ink and then partially inked up the top portion in Daydreaming using the rock-n-roll technique and then stamped it onto an A2 panel (4.25” x 5.5”) of 110lb white cardstock. I then repeated this process with several other Waffle Flower Inks (Safe Choice, My Pleasure, Oh Happy Day, & You Said What), always using just two shades of ink at a time but inking the stamps up with the lighter shade first then rock-n-rolling half of the stamp in the darker shade. I also flipped the stamp each time as well to vary the pattern a bit.

After I had stamped the whole background I then stamped, copic colored (colors listed in video) and then die cut with the matching dies the girl and dandelion from the Wish Set. I also stamped some dandelion seeds in You Said What and die cut those out as well. Next, I die cut a circle frame out of the stamped panel with the 2 larger dies from the Nesting Circles 2 Die set. I then taped the frame to the rest of frame and then mounted it and the remaining small circle of the stamped panel into my MISTI and then stamped a sentiment in VersaFine Onyx Black. Next, I adhered the panel with the taped frame onto an A2 top-folding card base with foam tape. I then adhered the circle with the sentiment into the opening with liquid glue and then adhered the girl with foam tape and the dandelion and dandelion seeds with liquid glue.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and video! Thanks for stopping by!

[WIW] Pull Tab Hidden Ballerina Card by Channin

Hello all! It's Channin here for Watch It Wednesday! In today's video I share how to create this sweet interactive card that incorporates the new Tu-Tu Cute stamps and matching dies with the Pull Tabs Die set to create a fun pull tab card.

[WIW] Pull Tab Hidden Ballerina Card by Channin

Watch below or on our YouTube channel.

First, I trimmed red cardstock to 4.25” x 11”, score and fold at 5.5” to create an A2 top-folding card base. I then trimmed the pink cardstock to 4.25” x 5.5” to create an A2 panel. Then I partially die cut with the 3rd smallest die from the A2 Nesting Rectangles 1 Die set at the upper 3rd of the pink panel to create the window for the stage. Then with an x-acto knife, I cut the remaining uncut side of the window.

Next, I partially die cut the "track" with a die from the Pull Tabs Die set on the red card base. Next, I stacked the pink panel and the card base together and ran them through the die cutting machine with the tab die to cut a notch for the tab to rest. Next, I die cut the "pull" and the "bridge" from red cardstock and the half circle "tab" from pink cardstock.I then stamped, copic color, and then die cut the ballerina and curtain from the Tu-Tu Cute Stamp Set with the matching dies. I then stamped the sentiment on the front panel in Memento Tuxedo Black. Next, I constructed the pull tab by feeding the tabs from the "pull" through the slits of the "track", then fanned them out and then adhered the "bridge" to the tabs.

I then trimmed off the excess from the "pull" and then glued it to the back to support the pull. Next, I adhered the half circle "tab" to the end of the pull tab and the ballerina to the bridge. I then adhered craft foam to the top and bottom portions of the front panel (making sure to leave the upper third open so the ballerina could slide back and forth) and then adhered it to the card base. Lastly, I adhered the curtain to the card front.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and video! Thanks for stopping by!
