Hello all! It’s Channin here with a new technique video! In today’s video I demonstrate how to create these folded Christmas trees, adding some great dimension to a simple Christmas card design! Also with accents like glitter paper and sequins these trees really shine!
[Technique] Folded Dimensional Christmas Trees by Channin
Watch below or on our YouTube channel.
First, I created two A2 card bases (8 1/2” x 5 1/2”) one out of 110lb white cardstock and one out of l80lb light pink cardstock. I then scored them at the halfway point and then trimmed the white card base down 1/16” to compensate for the thickness of the paper because I will later adhere the white inside the pink.
Next, I stamped and gold heat embossed a sentiment from the Peace on Earth Stamp Set on the inside of the white card base. Then using tape adhesive, I adhered the pink card base over the white. Next I constructed the tree by die cutting 3 of the smallest domes from the A2 Nested Dome Die set out of glitter paper. I then folded the domes in half crosswise, found the middle, and then folded both of the top corners in towards the middle.
To finish up the layers of the tree I trimmed up the overhang at the bottom of each layer. Next, I used a star punch to create a star from gold mirrored cardstock. I then adhered all the layers of the tree and the star to the card front with glossy accents. Lastly, I finished the card with some gold sequins.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card! Thanks so much for stopping by!
