designteamheadshots_channinHello everyone!! It’s Channin here and today I am playing around with the beautiful layering stamps found in the Wild & Free stamp set. I will use this set to create a pretty floral card with layered inks and heat embossing. Plus I’ll share some tips for positioning layering stamps when heat embossing.

[Technique] Heat Embossing with Layering Stamps by Channin

Watch video below or on our YouTube channel. photo-1-1025 First, I created a floral arrangement using the Wild & Free stamp set on the upper half of my MISTI. I then stamped my arrangement with Coffee Loves Milk dye ink onto my 5” by 6 ½” card base. I did this so I could have a guide for positioning the corresponding solid stamps (bottom layer stamps) because I will eventually gold emboss the top layer of stamps and it is difficult to stamp on top of embossed images so I have to actually stamp the bottom layer stamps first. photo-2-1025 Now that I have my guide stamped, I flip my MISTI so I can use the other half to position the corresponding solid stamps. It’s important to note, that I don’t remove any of the stamps in my floral arrangement. I want to keep those exactly where they are so I can emboss later. Using the guide, I position the leaf stamps and stamp them in Chirp Chirp and Peace of Mind dye inks. After I completed the leaves, I move onto the flowers. I stamp two flowers with a Tickled Pink and My Pleasure combo to create pinky-red flowers and the other two flowers in a You Said What and Oh Happy Day combo to create yellow-orange flowers. After the flowers I stamp the other floral accents in a Safe Choice and Happy Go Lucky color combo. Now that my bottom layer stamps are done I can now gold emboss the top layer of stamps. I flip my MISTI back around so my first arrangement of stamps is lined up correctly on my card and stamp the images with embossing ink and then heat emboss in gold. Lastly I stamp and gold emboss the rest of my sentiment on a strip of pink cardstock, adhere it to craft foam, and then onto my card. I hope you enjoyed and found some these tips helpful.
