[TT Video] Simple Watercolor Galaxy by Channin

Hello everyone! It’s Channin here with a new video for technique Tuesday! This week I demonstrate how to create a simple galaxy background with watercolors. I will also demonstrate one of my all time favorite techniques, reactivating stamped ink.

First, I die cut a 5x7 panel from watercolor paper using the largest die from the Lacy Layers 5x7 Die set. Next, I stamped and embossed a sentiment and all the stars from the Flora Cat Dream Stamp Set with white embossing powder on the upper half of my panel. I then stamped a cat in distressed ink. I picked ink colors that were similar to the watercolors I will be using to create the galaxy. I partially inked the upper portion of the cat in Salty Ocean then stamped. Then I inked the remaining portion in Fired Brick.

Next, I painted the galaxy using my semi-moist watercolor set. First, I painted a blue outline for my galaxy dream bubble around the embossed sentiment and stars, and two smaller bubbled leading to the cat. Then I added 3 red circles in the large bubble and then added a purple ring around each one. Then I blended the transition between the colors with additional water and paint. Next, I reactivated the stamped ink on the cat with my waterbrush. Once my panel was dry I adhered it to a white A7 base.

I hope you enjoyed! Thanks for stopping by!
