Hello everyone!! It’s Channin here with a new technique video to share! I’m playing with my watercolors again but this time I’m combining them with the gorgeous gorgeous (yes doubly gorgeous) Greenery Die! All right let me just come clean, I’m in love with these Greenery Dies! There are six different leaves in the set and the combination of textures of these leaves is just awesome! Plus, tropical leaves are really on trend right now and I’m like the rest of the bandwagon, I can’t get enough of them! Borrowing from some of the fabulous inspiration I have been seeing I decided I wanted to give these leaves a somewhat realistic watercolor look. Check out the video below to see how I watercolor these Greenery leaves and then use the leaves to create two different modern cards designs.
[TT Video] Watercoloring Die Cuts with Channin
Watch below or on our YouTube channel. First, I die cut 2 sets of the leaves from watercolor paper using the Greenery Die Set. Next, applied some permanent tape adhesive to a scrap of cardboard and then I rubbed the adhesive strips onto my clothing to reduce the strength of the adhesive. I want the adhesive to hold the leaves in place while I paint them but I also want to remove them when I finished. The fabulous Nina taught me this handy trick! ;) Next, I stuck my leaves down on my adhesive strips and started painting. I process I used to paint these is the same process I use when I color with alcohol markers. I start with the lightest shade and then continue to work my way through the rest of my colors, always ending with my darkest shade. Once my leaves were finished, I left them alone to dry. While my leaves dried I die cut two sets of sentiments, one in white and one in coral pink, using the Hey, Hi, Hello Die Set. I then removed the letters from the white set and then pressed them into my embossing ink pad and then embossed them in gold. I then applied tape to the back side of my gold embossed sentiments and then inlaid the letters from the pink trio I cut earlier. Next, I remove my dry leaves and arrange them into a wreath and then adhere them down with some matte adhesive onto a black A7 card base. Lastly I added foam tape to the back side of my sentiment trio and adhere them in the center of my card. Here’s the second card I made. I used the same techniques used but the leaves are arranged a little differently and I used different colored card stocks. Oh and I also gold embossed little hand cut strips of cardstock and adhered them behind my sentiments instead of inlaying the letters. I did this because gold embossing all those tiny letters was just sounded too bothersome for me. I hope you enjoyed!! Thank so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!!
