[Guest] Celebrate wit Style Card by Channin

on March 23, 2016
Hello everyone!! It’s Channin here and I am ecstatic to be guest designing with Waffle Flower today! March is a mega birthday month for my family so I decided to make a birthday card using the Bowtiful set. image2 First, I stamped my sentiment in the center of a 4 ¾” by 6 ¾” panel of black cardstock and then embossed it with gold embossing powder. I then stamped the sentiment again but with this time in black on a post-it-note. I then cut the post-it down to create a rectangle mask and placed it over my sentiment. image1 Next, I repeatedly stamped both bow ties from the set randomly over the entire card panel and then embossed them all with clear embossing powder. I then took a small circle/heart stamp and stamped it in the centers in of the large bow tie and then embossed them in gold. Lastly, I adhered my card panel to a 5” by 7” card base made from black card stock. I hope you enjoyed!! -Channin --- Thank you for sharing with us today, Channin! We love your graphic style and how you masked the area for the sentiment! So clever!

[Five for Friday] Inspiration for the New Year - Lorena

on January 22, 2016
DesignTeamHeadshots-LorenaCantoHello, friends! Lorena here! It's time for a new Five for Friday and I thought I could share with you today five of the things that inspire me for this new year that has just begun. Some new year purposes, if you wish. First of all, organize! I want to be able to stay on top of things as much as I can, and planning is key for that. The awesome Waffle Flower Crafts planner products will play a very important role in my planning for 2016! new year 1

Second, I want to heat a bit more healthy, which doesn't mean boring, right? Look at this dish, doesn't it look yummy? new year 2

Third comes becoming friends again with exercise. Lets be honest… I'll never run a marathon but hey, all this beautiful yoga mats in the pic make me want to try to get a bit fit, ha! new year 3

The fourth purpose is probably the most important for me, and it's to be present. We're all such busy bees! I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a 24/7 spinning brain, so I'm going to try and be able to stop, breathe and be in the very moment when the occasion deserves it. I don't want to miss a special moment because my mind was mentally listing the groceries that need to be bought tomorrow :) new year 4

And I've left for last another crucial one. Create! After a bit of a dry spell, I'm itching to get inky and all things crafty, and let me tell you: it's going to happen! new year 5

So, with all that five things in mind, I used some of the newest Waffle Flower planner goodies to create a card with an inspiring message. happy life 1 I used all the lovely icons in Recharge stamp set to create a colorful background full of things I love. Next, I die cut a rectangle using one of the tags from Surface - Tag die - Starter Kit. To make it, I die cut the tag first, and then I flipped it, lined and die cut it again to end up with two straight edges. The sentiment is from the beloved Bowtiful stamp set. I love that "It's a decision" phrase. happy life 2 And that's it for today! I wish you the very best for the new year! -- Lorena

Inspiration from the Challenge Team – January 4

on January 04, 2016
Happy Monday, everyone! Time for some inspiration from the Challenge Team! Annette, Shelly, and Laura Jane are here, along with our previous challenge winner Quyen Ngo to share their takes on the January Waffle Flower Challenge! Join the fun by linking your projects to our challenge too!

Annette Allen

Using: Monochrome Stamp SetDoily Square DieWilly and Friends Die WFC-1-04-Annette Allen
What Annette Says: I first die cut Waffle Flowers Crafts: Doily Square Die and then used it as a stencil. Using dabblers I added this fun colorful blend of colors. I then die cut the middle using the Doily Square Die and created a fun window almost like if you were going to create a shaker card just minus the sequins. Finishing off with rounding the corners.

Shelly Kurth

Using: In Every Way Stamp SetLoved Stamp SetTiny Wings Die WFC-1-04-Shelly Kurth
What Shelly Says: For my stenciling, I chose to make my own stencil using the Tiny Wings die. I took a piece of scrap paper and one by one placed the butterfly where I wanted it and ran it through my die cutting machine. Thus giving me my stencil.

Laura Jane

Using: Magical Stamp SetHoliday Labels: MerryIn Every Way Stamp Set; Surface - Tag Die - Scallop Add-on WFC-1-04-Laura Jane
What Laura Says: For my card I started out with a stencil made from the Tag Scallop Die. To create a "window", I inked it up with Distress Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Seedless Preserves. Then I added several snowflakes and trees, embossed in different colors, for a wintery scene. Finished it off with the Magical Die in Silver paper:)

[Guest] Quyen Ngo

Using: Bowtiful Stamp Set WFC-1-14-Guest Quyen Ngo
What Quyen Says: I used distress inks in peacock feathers and tumbled glass to sponge on a template. I then repositioned the template slightly offset and used a white gelly roll pen to trace over the spaces. After the ink was dried, I stamped the sentiment and bow image (from Waffle Flower bowtiful stamp set) in VersaFine Onyx Black and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. As it was a simple card, to finish, I rounded the outer edges and put on some gems in random places for a little sparkle.

Happy Monday, everyone! Time for some inspiration from the Challenge Team! Ashley is our Guest Designer this month and she has a video for us! Woot Woot! Ashley Ableson (Sparkly Canadian Crafty Girl)

[Video] Masking Technique - Card Tutorial

Watch it below or on Ashley's Youtube Channel here! And here is Ashley's finished card! Isn't it adorable? We love how she took inspiration from the challenge photo and the sketch to compose her card! WFC-11-16-Guest Ashley Ableson1 Challenge team member Marcie, Daria and Shona are also here to share their takes on the November Waffle Flower Challenge! Using a generic circle die as a mask, I masked off the centre of the card and watercoloured the light blue across the panel. Once dry, I removed it and used the negative part of the circle die to mask off the panel so I could focus on the central area of the card. Tiger & Lily coordinating dies were used with masking paper to create the island scene along with no-line watercolouring.

Daria Garushina
I used the leaves from Leafy Stamp Set, as I really liked the hanging leaves from the inspiration photo. At first, I masked the area with some posted notes, blended my background and then stamped the images slightly off-setting them... I wanted to achieve a more graphic modern look :)

A Project Life Spread From Start to Finish with Patricia Roebuck

on September 19, 2014
Hello everyone! While we're busy preparing for our October release, our friend Patricia is taking over the blog today!
Patricia Roebuck is one of those crafters who are super talented, yet so sweet, so humble and so kind. We got to know each other through a design team a couple years ago and finally met at CHA earlier this year! We happened to have some friends in common and got to chat in real life! I am a card maker but I adore all my scrapbooker friends! I guess our passion and love for life is the bond?

A Project Life Spread - From Star to Finish

Hello!  I am so thrilled to be here.  I hope to do Nina’s stamps and dies justice.  They are such a great quality and so many different options with just one set.  I used Be My Guest stamp setBowtiful stamp setStarry Night stamp setTiny Circle Die, and Tiny Star Die for my Project Life spread.
Because I wanted to incorporated a lot of stamping, after I picked out my photos, I chose pattern papers that complimented my photos and that would work great with the stamps.
For my title or week card, I used the Tiny Circle DieTiny Star Die, and Be My Guest stamp set.
I added stamping on several of the cards and/or photos.  I love how the “HELLO” from the Bowtiful stamp set fit perfectly on a label to layer with my journaling.  And the Starry Night stamp set worked so well with this photo and pattern paper.
Using Starry Night stamp set, I stamped directly on my photo with a black permanent ink, added soft texture with the stars onto this die cut, and added more layers over this pattern paper.
The stamps and dies worked so well with my Project Life spread.  They added texture, color, and sentiments.
Pure Awesomeness, right? Thank you, Patricia, for sharing your talent with us! If you haven't already, you can find a card and a personalized notepad Patricia shared on her blog using our products here!
Thank everyone for stopping by! Happy Crafting!

Freckled Fawn + Waffle Flower Blog Hop with Katie Gehring

on September 05, 2014
Waffle-Flower-Freckled-Fawn-Blog-Hop Hello everyone! Welcome to day 5 of a week long inspiration brought to you by Freckled Fawn and Waffle Flower Crafts! We have simplified the blog hop to two stops - our blog here and the blog of Freckled Fawn. Stop by both of our blogs for inspiration and prizes! We have our very talented design team member: Katie Gehring here today! DesignTeamHeadshots-KatieGehringHello friends, Katie here taking over the Waffle Flower blog today for the Waffle Flower + Freckled Fawn Blog Hop.  All week long the Waffle Flower Design Team gals have been sharing ideas for cards and project using Waffle Flower stamps and fun embellishments from our friends at Freckled Fawn. I have to admit that I don't find myself reaching for embellishments too often, but I do love what they add to a project, and I am in total awe of designers that use them well.  For me, embellishments need to contribute something meaningful to the design by drawing attention to a focal point, leading your eye around the project or even helping you make your statement.  With the help of Freckled Fawn, I put together three projects that I hope do just that.
First up, is a card with"flair."  When I was browsing the Freckled Fawn shop, I came across the Lovely flair set where the font used for the hello badge reminded me very much of the Flower Circle Stamp Set.  I combined the two to create a colorful Hello card for a friend.
The flair embellishment works for me here because it helps create the sentiment and make my statement.  The sequins (from my stash) lead your eye around the card.
The next two cards make use of the Summertime Airmail Washi Tape, Emoticon Wood Chips, and the Arrow Sampler Paper Clips along with Waffle Flower's Bowtiful and Bowtiful Additions stamp sets.
The Emoticon Wood Chips made me think of all the awesome adjectives that Nina included in Bowtiful and Bowtiful Addition stamp sets.  Taking color cues from the washi tape, I trimmed a piece of lined patterned paper to 3 x 4 and stamped the words in summery shades of pink, orange, and yellow and adhered a wood chip face next to each word.
I matted the stamped panel with some bright pink cardstock and attached it with a bit of washi to a piece of yellow cardstock that I stamped with the random star pattern from Bowtiful.  I added a green arrow paper clip to draw the eye to the sentiment- plus it adds a fun interactive element.
Finally, I couldn't resist making a card with the sad face emoticon wood chip.
While I used the same general colors, I adhered the matted stamped panel to a piece of patterned paper for a bit of a different look.  The arrow clip points to the win, but you could also position it to fail depending on the situation.  If you are planning to mail the card, you may want to secure the clip with a glue dot so that the card doesn't inadvertently convey an unintended message.
For both of these cards, the wood chips, arrow clips and washi were central to the design on the cards and selected intentionally.  Each of these embellishments serves an important role by helping convey the card message and drawing attention to the focal point.
That's all for me today!  Don't forget to check back tomorrow for a post by the amazing Joni Andaya!

A Few Cards + A Heads-up

on April 18, 2014
Hello everyone! Heehee, I really have "a few" cards to share today! bowtiful-mini-cards I had some fun using the leftover pieces from my Bowtiful Birthday Card to make some minis. I trimmed my 6"x6" paper into 2-3/4" x 5-1/2" then scored in half to make my cards. This way, I still used the cute complimentary borders on the paper  but avoided the hanging hole in the center :) One of my favorite ways to add some visual contrast to a project. bowtiful-mini-cards-trim It was some happy stamping and die cutting time :) You can choose to stamp your sentiment on the front of the card: bowtiful-mini-cards-sentiments Or on the inside: bowtiful-mini-cards-inside And you can choose to adhere the bows down flat or using some foam adhesives for extra dimension! Just have fun with it! bowtiful-mini-cards-foam-adhesive Tuck the note in a school bag, a lunch box or just put it on a girl's pillow before she wakes up will surely bring a smile to her face! You can also use the Bowtie image in our Bowtiful Stamp Set for some boy cards too! Bowtiful Stamp Set Preview   Making these cards made me happy! I hope that you will too! All paper are from Pebbles Garden Party 6″x6″ paper pad. bowtiful-mini-cards-closeup
