[Guest] One Stamp Three Ways - Yana Smakula

Hello everyone! We have three cheerful cards from Yana for you today! We especially love how she used the banner stamp from our Congrats Stamp Set on all three cards. 271035 Congrats Stamp Set

Card 1: Celebrate

yana-smakula-2015-Waffle-Flower-Celebrate-1L Yana stamped the solid banner on the lower right of the white panel in yellow and the "Celebrate" sentiment in black on top. This pop of color ties the sentiment back to the flower bouquet (from A Bunch Stamp Set), which is also colored in pink/yellow. yana-smakula-2015-Waffle-Flower-Celebrate-2L Yana also heat embossed the flowers in silver to add more pizazz to her card. yana-smakula-2015-Waffle-Flower-Celebrate-3L Did you notice that Yana left the top portion of her card blank? This "white space" leaves room for your eyes to rest and makes the focal stand out even more.

Card 2 Congrats

yana-smakula-2015-Waffle-Flower-Congrats-1L On her second card, Yana paired the sentiment with our Rosette Hearts Templates Die. yana-smakula-2015-Waffle-Flower-Congrats-4L This "front and center" design is a great way to showcase a handmade embellishment. yana-smakula-2015-Waffle-Flower-Congrats-3L Did you notice the solid banner peeking behind the rosettes? Adorable little details can add a lot to a clean and simple card!

Card 3 Yippee

yana-smakula-2015-Waffle-Flower-Yippee-5L Yana took the solid banner stamp from Congrats Stamp Set further by stamping a background on her third card! yana-smakula-2015-Waffle-Flower-Yippee-6L We love that she bent the sides of the heart shaped balloons for some extra dimension! yana-smakula-2015-Waffle-Flower-Yippee-1L Thank Yana for sharing these three cheerful cards with us today! Check out Yana's awesome video showing you step-by-step how she created theses cards! Find time to create and make something today!

Five for Friday - A Tribute to Daddy

DesignTeamHeadshots-LorenaCantoHey everyone! Lorena here with a new installment of our Five for Friday feature. June is almost here, and that means many of you will soon be celebrating Father’s Day, so I thought a little tribute to all daddies was in order. Today, I chose images that either spoke to my heart, made me laugh or sparked ideas for Father’s Day cards and gifts. Enjoy!
  1. A beautiful image. I think this one doesn’t need words… Such a strong and meaningful caption!

  1. I love this hammer gift idea! It’s perfect for the Mr Fix It All in your life and the perfect complement for this gift would be (guess it?) a handmade card with our Hey Mr stamp set. It has the perfect images for Father’s Day!

  1. Many men have a sweet tooth, and this cupcakes fit the bill perfectly for the celebration. I’ll have one myself, please ;)

  1. Baking is not your thing? I’ve got you covered, too! Here’s another sweet and super easy idea that can be perfectly replicated with our Bowtiful stamp set, Bowtiful Additions stamp set and Bowtiful dies.

  1. Finally, a gift that made me laugh. I think one of the best bonds that can develop between a father and his children is the sense of humor.

The occasion, of course, calls for a card! I know many crafters struggle when it comes to masculine cards. Want my opinion? Stop worrying! Men won’t notice that the cardstock doesn’t coordinate perfectly with that enamel dot, they won’t notice that super duper tiny ink smudge, they won’t notice that you didn’t use the latest and greatest and trendiest stamp set. Instead, what they will notice is that their beloved daughter, granddaughter, wife, daughter in law or whatever is giving them a handmade card crafted with love. That’s the only thing that matters :) That said, here’s my card for today. It’s a one layer card! father card 1 I combined the tools, stars and “Dad” sentiment from Hey Mr stamp set with the solid scribble from Doily Square stamp set and the “It’s your day!” from Congrats stamp set. That scribble is SO perfect for grounding a sentiment or other images! father card 2First, I stamped the scribble and the sentiment. Then I masked the scribble and stamped the tools and stars (Waffle Flower inks used: 1/New Leaf, 13/Malibu and 16/Sunshine) As a last touch I glittered the bigger stars using a silver Wink of Stella pen. The glitter doesn’t show well in the pics, but it’s there! Thank you so much for stopping by and happy weekend! – Lorena Thank you for sharing with us today, Lorena! We love that you mixed our newest sets with Hey Mr. Stamp Set from our very first release! :) You are so right about what guys care about a card! LOL Find time to create and make something today!

Waffle-Flower-Challenge-20150511
DesignTeamHeadshots_AmandaHappy Monday, Waffle Flower fans!  Amanda here today with another take on this month's Waffle Flower Challenge.  Inspired by the delicate white flower bouquet in this month's challenge inspiration photo, I set out to create a flower bouquet of my own.
Flower Heart Gift Bag
I love that the dies from Waffle Flower Crafts are so versatile.  The size and scale of the Rosette Hearts Template Die is perfect for small projects like cards, or for bigger projects like this gift bag.
Flower Heart Gift Bag 2
I die cut several white rosette hearts and yellow circle centers using the Rosette Hearts Template die.  I folded a piece patterned paper to create the flower wrap and adhered the hearts to the bag to create a bouquet.  I stamped celebrate and the banner from the Congrats Stamp Set in two different shades of pink--#5 from the Spring Blend Ink Pad and #10 from the Summer Blend Ink Pad--and fussy cut the image before adhering it to the bag.
Flower Heart Gift Bag 1
The Rosette Hearts Template Die add so much dimension to the front of the gift bag.  Cut a few leaves from patterned paper to add color and character to the flower heart bouquet.
Rosette Heart Die Assembly
Assembling the Rosette Hearts Template die is really easy.  Start by folding each half of the heart along the score lines, starting the folds in opposite directions.
Rosette Heart Die Assembly 1
Adhere the two rosette heart halves together at the top.
Rosette Heart Die Assembly 2
Bring the paper around in a circle, then overlap and adhere the ends together.
Rosette Heart Die Assembly 3
Bring the flat side of the rosette heart circle together in the middle, creating a cone-like shape.  Place a small dot of hot glue in the center of the heart.
Rosette Heart Die Assembly 4
Flatten the heart and hold in place until the hot glue is cool.
Flower Heart Gift Bag
The Rosette Hearts Template Die makes perfect embellishments for cards or projects.
Have fun creating!
Thank you for sharing the step photos with us, Amanda! We love your out of the box take on the challenge!

Faber-Castell + Waffle Flower Inspiration Week – Day 5

Hello everyone! Welcome to day 5 of Faber-Castell and Waffle Flower Inspiration Week! We team up with our friends at Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft to bring you an entire week of mixed-media inspiration! Blog-hop-badge-Faber-Castell-Waffle-Flower We have Sabrina here today! DesignTeamHeadshots-Sabrina Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset There are many graduations coming up quickly, so for today’s project, I pulled out a brand new sentiment set along with an older favorite from my Waffle Flower Crafts collection. The Feather More Stamp set was sending the artsy, mixed-media vibe that the Faber-Castell products were inspiring, and the Congrats Stamp and Die set have the perfect sentiments. Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset The background was creating by coloring with two shades of pink Gelatos® and blending before adding a layer of thick Whipped Spackle through a stencil. I used the same technique with the feather die cuts before stamping on top with the coordinating stamps. The Big Brush pens are great for coloring stamps and gives a bit of a watercolor effect. Layer everything up with some foam adhesive for extra dimension and texture. I love how easily a sheet of white paper can be transformed and how well these products compliment one another! Supplies:

Faber-Castell + Waffle Flower Inspiration Week - Day 4

Hello everyone! Welcome to day 3 of Faber-Castell and Waffle Flower Inspiration Week! We team up with our friends at Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft to bring you an entire week of mixed-media inspiration! Blog-hop-badge-Faber-Castell-Waffle-Flower We have Amanda here today! DesignTeamHeadshots_Amanda Hello Everyone!  I hope you have been enjoying Waffle Flower Crafts + Faber Castell week as much as I have.  A long time fan of gesso, I was super excited to pair Faber Castell whipped spackle with Waffle Flower inks and stamps.
Stamped Gesso Flower Stripes Card
I knew I wanted to pair the flowers from the A Bunch Stamp Set with black and white stripes.  I wanted the flowers to pop against the striped background so I added a thin layer of whipped spackle to create contrast on the front of the card.  I created the sentiment by die cutting the Congrats Die four times and stacking them on top of one another to add some dimension.
Stamped Gesso Flower Stripes Card 4
I love how the texture of the whipped spackle comes right through the stamped image.  I also love that you can still see the stripes through the thin layer of spackle.  The little imperfections in the whipped spackle surface add a lot of character to the card.
Stamped Gesso Flower Stripes Card 1
Applying a thin layer of whipped spackle to patterned paper is easy and doesn't require any special tools.  Simply scoop out a little bit of whipped spackle and spread it around with a popsicle stick.  I wanted the area of the spackle to be just a bit bigger than the flower stamp, so I kept the stamp set near for easy reference.  It takes a little while for the whipped spackle to dry, but you can speed it up a bit by using a heat gun to dry the spackle.
Stamped Gesso Flower Stripes Card 2
Stamp your first color right on top of the dry spackle.  Press your stamp firmly to make a nice impression.Stamped Gesso Flower Stripes Card 3 Stamp your accent colors one at a time.  I used #2 and #4 from the Spring Blend Inkpad and #16 from the Summer Blend Inkpad.  Embrace the imperfect ink coverage.  It looks artsy.Stamped Gesso Flower Stripes Card

Faber-Castell & Waffle Flower Inspiration Week - Day 2 - Mixed Media for Beginners

Hello everyone! Welcome to day 2 of Faber-Castell and Waffle Flower Inspiration Week! We team up with our friends at Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft to bring you an entire week of mixed-media inspiration! Blog-hop-badge-Faber-Castell-Waffle-Flower We have Katie here today! DesignTeamHeadshots-KatieGehring

Mixed Media for Beginners

Hello crafty friends! Katie here. When I heard that Waffle Flower Crafts was partnering with Faber-Castell, I was really excited, but also a little bit scared.  I have a confession, mixed media isn’t really my thing.  Don’t get me wrong.  I think it’s GORGEOUS, and I greatly admire others that have mad art skills, but whenever I try my hand at some of the techniques, it’s generally an epic fail. There is a reason I try to keep it clean and simple folks! But when I received an AMAZING box of supplies from Faber-Castell, I was ready to roll up my sleeves and give it another shot.  I came up with three cards using my Waffle Flower stamps and the art supplies from Faber-Castell that are still definitely my style.  Each card builds a bit on technique from the last, but all are perfect projects for mixed media newbies. Gehring- WFC- FC Collage

Level 1 - Stamps + Markers

For my first card, I decided to keep it pretty simple.  I used the Stampers Big Brush Pen sets in green and yellow along with Waffle Flower’s A Bunch Stamp Set to create this card for Mom. Gehring- WFC-FC- Mom 1 To start, I stamped the outline of the flower trio in black ink on a piece of white card stock.  I used a stamp positioner to help determine the placement of the filler image and I proceeded to color the stamp first with light yellow and green, then with darker green and orange.  This was a pretty large area that I was coloring, and I have heard of tricks like huffing on the colored stamp to reactivate the ink before pressing it to the paper, but that seemed a bit germy to me, so I just let the markers do as they will. I loved variation effect in the petals and leaves. Mom Card Steps Stamp markers are a great medium for sets like the A Bunch Stamp Set.  Despite being a single overlay stamp, I was able to shade the flowers yellow and orange and the leaves green with no difficulty at all. Gehring- WFC-FC- Mom 2 To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment from the Feather More stamp set, trimmed the edge and adhered it to a green note card.

Level 2 - Stamps + Gelatos

Feeling bolstered by the success of my first card, I decided to reach for the Gelatos next to create this gem of a card using the Gemstone stamp set. Gehring- WFC-FC- Gem 1 Since I knew I was going to be adding water to the paper to blend the gelatos, I stamped the gems and sentiment in black ink on a panel of watercolor card stock.  Next using the Red Gelatos Collection, I scribbled a bit of the pigment inside each gem. Gem Card Steps I followed up with some water and the paintbrush included in the Gelato set to soften and spread out the color. Gehring- WFC-FC- Gem 2 I trimmed the panel and adhered it to a bright pink note card.

Level 3 - Stamps + Gesso + Gelatos

Ok, this is where it gets real.  For my last card, I used Gesso, Gelatos, and the Congrats stamp set to create a rainbow hued Celebrate card. Gehring- WFC-FC- Celebrate 1 Before I pulled out the Gelatos, using a paintbrush, I brushed Gesso all over a panel of water color card stock and I set it aside to dry.  I remembered using Gesso before in my High School painting class.  When you open the jar- it looks like white glue or paint, but among its many uses, it does a great job of priming paper and canvas for painting. Once the Gesso was dry, I scribbled some Gelatos in rainbow colors.  I used: I added water to the scribbles to smooth out and blend the colors.  I was amazed at the difference the gesso base coat made- the colors were much more creamy and I didn’t see any of my scribble from the Gelatos on the paper. Celebrate Card Steps I let the panel dry and stamped “Celebrate” from the Congrats stamp set in black ink repeatedly over each color. Gehring- WFC-FC- Celebrate 2 After allowing some additional dry time, I attached the panel to a red note card. A cascade of candy-colored enamel dots finished the card. Well, that’s all for me today.  Even if you think mixed media isn’t for you, I hope these cards encourage you to break out of your comfort zone and try something new while still keeping it you. Thanks for stopping by! --- Katie Thank you for sharing these fun and simple techniques with us today, Katie! We can't wait to try them!

DesignTeamHeadshots_MaylineHello crafty friends! It’s Mayline here today to share my card for this month’s Waffle Flower challenge. Waffle Flower Challenge-20150427 When I saw the inspiration photo, I wanted to get a big gold framed mirror for my bedroom. Unfortunately, my room is too small for a big mirror like this. I cannot have this beautiful mirror in real life but I can put one on a card! I am also drawn to the other details in the photo: flowers, pots and bottles on the drawer dresser! Isn’t it a interesting combination? I incorporated this look on my cards. They are simple and clean cards that are easy and fun to make! Here’s a quick video to show you how I made the cards.

And, sure, there are a gazillion ways to decorate with balloons, but check this, because there’s so much more… If you’re throwing a party, you can go beyond the bunch of balloons ans amaze your guests with this. I used this beautiful print as a starting point for my card. The new Waffle Flower Crafts release has the cutest heart shaped balloon image and a coordinating die for it! They are in the Congrats stamp set and Congrats die. Yippee!!! balloons card 2 Instead of using a sentiment in the place of the balloon string, I decided to give the sentiment a fun ride by tying it to a bunch of colorful balloons. The solid cloud from Rain Check stamp set provided the perfect backround. balloons card 3 Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great weekend!!! – Lorena
