[Guest] Doily Circle CAS with Niki

Hello Niki here, thank you for taking a moment to stop by. Today's card is certainly clean and simple, but it showcases the intricate Doily circle die in all its beauty. img_20160824_140530 I started out with a panel of watercolour cardstock, and used 3 distress ink colours to blend together until gradual and seamless. Then took a water Spitzer and sprayed some water over the top, used a paper towel to soak up any excess water. img_20160823_134932 Now here's a technical bit of magic. I wanted to die cut the doily circle as a whole but I certainly didn't want the negative pieces of the die to detach themselves and find myself piecing together a puzzle for the next hour. So I used the trick I saw Jennifer McGuire do were you take a drier sheet (normally for laundry purposes) and rub your cutting plate with it. I don't understand what magic exactly happens but it allows you to have a die cut stay as one complete piece! Perfect! img_20160823_134832 Next up I took the Doily Cirle Die and used multi matte medium to adhere it to a piece of fun foam to add dimension. Once dry I fussy cut around it to make sure nothing was sticking out. I adhered the whole die cut piece back into its original spot. I wanted this card to be a "yay! I support you" card so I die cut the YIPPEE! die twice from black cardstock, adhered them together for strength then added shimmer and a ton of glossy accents and allowed it to dry. img_20160823_143614 From the Feather More stamp set I took the 'you are the best' sentiment, stamped it onto grey cardstock and popped it into place. Once the YIPPEE was completely dry I adhered it above the sentiment strip. img_20160823_185328 Finished up with a sprinkling of my favorite sequins and beads and voilà! Complete. Happy crafting! [WIW Video] Pearl-fect Day Card by Patricia

DesignTeamHeadshots_PATRICIAHello Waffle Flower friends!  I haven’t done a card with a video for awhile, so decided I would share that with you today.  I based my inspiration and starting point for my card using this month’s challenge photo inspiration.  Instead of looking at the whole photo as the inspiration, I selected one object from it, the bird painting in the background.  So I started with the feather stamp first, then went with blue and tan for my colors.
As I started getting my supplies together, I remembered when I learned about the stamp kissing technique, and thought I need to do that again!  You can see in the video the texture I got by kissing the circle polka dot stamp to the inked solid feather stamp.  I mention in the video that there is a little ink smooshing too.  So I have a little of that and the polka dots, but great texture, and that is what I was going for instead of a solid feather image.
I wasn’t planning on using the little mermaid, but the flow of the feathers and the other stamping, made a perfect little sea home for her.  The feathers reminded me of kelp or seaweed floating.  Okay, so maybe you and I know they are feathers, but to the recipient, they won’t know!  I think the texture from the stamp kissing also help make that elusion that they are floating in water.  For the mermaid, instead of coloring her in after stamping, I blended the same ink colors on cardstock and then stamped her.  I think she came out so pretty, soft, so calm and pretty floating in her ocean.
I have a video to share how the card came together!
Watch it below or on our Youtube Channel.

[Five for Friday] Pantone Colors of the Year - Katie Gehring

DesignTeamHeadshots-KatieGehringHello friends, Katie here. When Pantone Institute announced the two colors of the year, Rose Quartz and Serenity, I was surprised. After years of Tangerine, Emerald, Merlot, and even Radiant Orchid, Rose Quartz and Serenity seemed like a bit of a departure. Here’s how Pantone explained their dual choice.   pantone-color-of-the-year-lee-eiseman-quote source At first, the colors made me think of the 1980’s Miami Vice or even Hello Kitty’s Little Twin Stars. In the first few months of 2016, I have seen these colors pop up more and more from fashion to home decor and it’s truly a color combination that is:

York Tee

I used both regular and reverse masking techniques on this card. I die cut several feathers in varied styles and sizes to use as masks.  I also used the negative diecuts for reverse masking. I stamped some feathers and blended over them on white paper with inks using sponge dauber.

Isha Gupta

I used liquid masking fluid to mask the chain before stamping the pine leaves. I masked the stocking using post it before I stamped the gifts.

I was inspired by the colors in the inspiration photo! I masked a circle cutout on my kraft colored cardbase and added some rose colored ink to the center to create an ombre look. I stamped the leaf over the top in the same color ink.

Faber-Castell + Waffle Flower Inspiration Week – Day 5

on May 15, 2015
Hello everyone! Welcome to day 5 of Faber-Castell and Waffle Flower Inspiration Week! We team up with our friends at Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft to bring you an entire week of mixed-media inspiration! Blog-hop-badge-Faber-Castell-Waffle-Flower We have Sabrina here today! DesignTeamHeadshots-Sabrina Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset There are many graduations coming up quickly, so for today’s project, I pulled out a brand new sentiment set along with an older favorite from my Waffle Flower Crafts collection. The Feather More Stamp set was sending the artsy, mixed-media vibe that the Faber-Castell products were inspiring, and the Congrats Stamp and Die set have the perfect sentiments. Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset The background was creating by coloring with two shades of pink Gelatos® and blending before adding a layer of thick Whipped Spackle through a stencil. I used the same technique with the feather die cuts before stamping on top with the coordinating stamps. The Big Brush pens are great for coloring stamps and gives a bit of a watercolor effect. Layer everything up with some foam adhesive for extra dimension and texture. I love how easily a sheet of white paper can be transformed and how well these products compliment one another! Supplies:

Twelve Days of Gift Giving - Day 3 - Make Easy Gift Boxes and Tags with Kim Kesti

Make Easy Gift Boxes and Tags with Kim Kesti

Kesti_WF_Gift Wrap Hello everyone! Kim Kesti here! Super excited to be part of Waffle Flower Crafts Twelve Days of Gift Giving event. Christmas is one of the rare times that I really think and plan ahead for my gifts AND my gift wrap. In fact, I quite often will buy the majority of my wrapping paper and tissue during the After Holiday sales. Hey, you can’t beat 50-75% off! I also choose a “theme” each year for my gift wrap. I don’t stress about matching everything, but I love coordinated packages under the tree. This year, I am going with a navy blue and silver theme. I also love anything with feathers lately, so I am determined to use the adorable Waffle Flower Crafts Feather More Stamp Set on a lot of my Christmas projects! For my first project, I used the Feather More Stamp set to create my own patterned paper. I stamped feathers from the set all over a basic piece of white cardstock, then I added the little confetti dots from the Holiday Labels – Merry Stamp Set. Can you spot them in the bottom corner of the set? I love little “extras” like this on my sets. The dots really add depth to my patterned paper. Kesti_WF_Gift Wrap2 To create the tag for this little box I stamped the round label from the Holiday Labels - Merry Stamp Set using Silver Delicata ink. While the ink was still wet, I sprinkled extra fine glitter on the stamped image. Kesti_WF_Gift Wrap3 When the image was dry, I die cut it and layered it with a blue cardstock circle. I love how simple and easy this is! I plan to recreate this tag many times for my different packages. (Love that is has space to add my own greeting, too!) Kesti_WF_Gift Wrap4 I used the handy We R Memory Keepers Gift Box Punch Board to create my boxes. This punch board is super easy to use, just follow the sizes printed right on the board to make your own adorable boxes. Love how this feather paper turned out! Another tip: try using inexpensive library rings to attach your tags! Cute! Kesti_WF_Gift Wrap5 My second box was also created using the Gift Box Punch Board. This time, I punched glitter paper from Teresa Collins and added some feathers for accents. I stamped and glittered the feathers using the same technique as my first tag. Then, I stamped my cute sentiment and die cut it using the Holiday Labels - Merry Stamp Set and coordinating die: Holiday Label 1 Die. For the outer circle, I used the adorable pierced circle from the Flower Circles Die Set. Thanks for taking a peek at my gift boxes and tags. I’m very inspired by the whole design team and can’t wait to see what else will be shared during this Twelve Days of Gift Giving event! Kim Kesti

Introducing Tribal Thank You and Feather More

on October 02, 2014
Hello everyone! Welcome to Day 2 of Waffle Flower Crafts October Release! We are switching to a quarterly release schedule so we are having a few more products introduced on each day until all products go live in our store on October 5. We have 10 stamp sets and 5 die sets in our Fall collection.

Tribal Thank You Stamp Set

MSRP $15.99 The artwork in today's sets were illustrated by Mia Charro. We gave Mia the theme: "In the Woods" and got some very cool wild life images back. They were different from what we had in mind but we loved the images and wanted to make them into stamps. we thought and thought about what sentiments could go with the images and finally settled on a tribal theme. We asked Mia to add a dreamcather to the set and we were good to go! Did you know that a dreamcather is used to caught the bad dreams for one's protection? 271014 Tribal Thank You Stamp Set
