[WIW Video] Pearl-fect Day Card by Patricia

DesignTeamHeadshots_PATRICIAHello Waffle Flower friends!  I haven’t done a card with a video for awhile, so decided I would share that with you today.  I based my inspiration and starting point for my card using this month’s challenge photo inspiration.  Instead of looking at the whole photo as the inspiration, I selected one object from it, the bird painting in the background.  So I started with the feather stamp first, then went with blue and tan for my colors.
As I started getting my supplies together, I remembered when I learned about the stamp kissing technique, and thought I need to do that again!  You can see in the video the texture I got by kissing the circle polka dot stamp to the inked solid feather stamp.  I mention in the video that there is a little ink smooshing too.  So I have a little of that and the polka dots, but great texture, and that is what I was going for instead of a solid feather image.
I wasn’t planning on using the little mermaid, but the flow of the feathers and the other stamping, made a perfect little sea home for her.  The feathers reminded me of kelp or seaweed floating.  Okay, so maybe you and I know they are feathers, but to the recipient, they won’t know!  I think the texture from the stamp kissing also help make that elusion that they are floating in water.  For the mermaid, instead of coloring her in after stamping, I blended the same ink colors on cardstock and then stamped her.  I think she came out so pretty, soft, so calm and pretty floating in her ocean.
I have a video to share how the card came together!

[Guest] More Mermaid Cards by Elena Roussakis

on August 03, 2016
Hi there! I'm Elena, and thrilled to be guesting with Waffleflower today! I love working with Waffleflower stamps, especially because they are so unique! You won't find a mermaid-monkey stamp anywhere else, hee. I have 2 cards to share with you today. My first card combines Birthday Fishes with Little Mermaids. They pair so naturally together! birthday-fish-card I started out by coloring the sweet monkey with the seashell in her hair, the algae, the big balloon fish and the smaller fish. Once I colored them with copics, I die-cut them and assembled them onto a circle die-cut. I love the little fish staring at the fish balloon! Cracks me right up. birthday-fish-closeup Instead of masking, I've taken to making my die-cut images look more seamless by drawing in extra lines. Like I did on the monkey's hand that is holding the balloon string. My next card uses Little Mermaids exclusively: Perfect-day-card I colored both mermaids, and other images from the set (the pearl, of course! to go with the sentiment.) I arranged them all onto a Doily Square Die. I die-cut a square into the center of the doily using the inset square provided with the die-set. It is the perfect frame to match the jewel on the monkey's head. perfect-day-closeup I colored the little jewel drops around the doily in pink, to really match the jewel on the monkey's head. I hope you like the 2 cards I created! -- Elena

Serious! I'm so in love with this couple mermaid.
First, I stamped all images on Bristol paper and colored with copic markers. For the background I blending with distress ink and splatter with water. And for finishing touch I added some clear sequins.
That's all from me and thank you for joining with me today :)
See you on the next Tuesday!

[WIW Video] Perfect Layout by Patricia Roebuck

on July 27, 2016
DesignTeamHeadshots_PATRICIAHello Waffle Flower friends. I have a layout to share inspired by this month’s challenge photo inspiration. wfc-201607-photo

[Video] Perfect Layout by Patricia Roebuck

https://youtu.be/PtxYOhQMqGM Using the inspiration, I chose some of the new Waffle Flower Premium Dye inks, adding in other shades and tones of those same colors. I love the outside photo with the refreshment on the table next to the chair. Similar to the inspiration, I picked an outside photo enjoying ice cream to use along with the InstaLove Die. For some added texture, I brought in some pattern paper to use with the Chunky Chevron Die. I brought in more stamps to help set the mood of my summer layout. I have a video sharing how the layout came together.

Xyron-Waffle-Flower-1-YouAreFintasticCard Waffle Flower Supplies: Xyron Supplies: Xyron Creative Station After I used the Waffle Flower inks to blend in the water and sand on my card panel, I die cut the waves from the panel. I stamped and colored all of the images, then die cut each one out. I sent them all through the Xyron Creative Station! All I had to do was adhere everything into place. To get my waves to pop back up, I used a paint brush and baby powder to apply to the waves to remove the stickiness. --- Patricia
