Inspiration from the Challenge Team – January 4

on January 04, 2016
Happy Monday, everyone! Time for some inspiration from the Challenge Team! Annette, Shelly, and Laura Jane are here, along with our previous challenge winner Quyen Ngo to share their takes on the January Waffle Flower Challenge! Join the fun by linking your projects to our challenge too!

Annette Allen

Using: Monochrome Stamp SetDoily Square DieWilly and Friends Die WFC-1-04-Annette Allen
What Annette Says: I first die cut Waffle Flowers Crafts: Doily Square Die and then used it as a stencil. Using dabblers I added this fun colorful blend of colors. I then die cut the middle using the Doily Square Die and created a fun window almost like if you were going to create a shaker card just minus the sequins. Finishing off with rounding the corners.

Shelly Kurth

Using: In Every Way Stamp SetLoved Stamp SetTiny Wings Die WFC-1-04-Shelly Kurth
What Shelly Says: For my stenciling, I chose to make my own stencil using the Tiny Wings die. I took a piece of scrap paper and one by one placed the butterfly where I wanted it and ran it through my die cutting machine. Thus giving me my stencil.

Laura Jane

Using: Magical Stamp SetHoliday Labels: MerryIn Every Way Stamp Set; Surface - Tag Die - Scallop Add-on WFC-1-04-Laura Jane
What Laura Says: For my card I started out with a stencil made from the Tag Scallop Die. To create a "window", I inked it up with Distress Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Seedless Preserves. Then I added several snowflakes and trees, embossed in different colors, for a wintery scene. Finished it off with the Magical Die in Silver paper:)

[Guest] Quyen Ngo

Using: Bowtiful Stamp Set WFC-1-14-Guest Quyen Ngo
What Quyen Says: I used distress inks in peacock feathers and tumbled glass to sponge on a template. I then repositioned the template slightly offset and used a white gelly roll pen to trace over the spaces. After the ink was dried, I stamped the sentiment and bow image (from Waffle Flower bowtiful stamp set) in VersaFine Onyx Black and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. As it was a simple card, to finish, I rounded the outer edges and put on some gems in random places for a little sparkle.

Five for Friday - Making Lists with Lorena

DesignTeamHeadshots-LorenaCanto Hello, friends! Lorena here with a new rendition of our Five for Friday feature. I’m sure many of you are with me on this: Making a list and checking it twice is not just for Christmas. Right? I live making lists (that’s not a typo. I truly “live” making lists. And I love it too) and I know there are lots of people like me out there. Well, lucky us, making lists has become quite the trend lately! Perhaps it has been triggered by the planner craze trend. But however it happened, the love for list making has definitely won a place in the paper crafting industry! There are beautiful list pads ready for us to use. lists-pic1

Or you can make your own pretty list pad and decorate it to your heart’s content. lists-pic2

Using a list related comparison to declare your love? It can be done now. lists-pic3

There are many places where you can write down a list. Even in the shower… lists-pic 4

Lists themselves are coming out of our purses and planners to become pretty decorative prints lists-pic 5

So, for someone who loves list making and also loves stamping, stamp sets like On My Mark or Planner:Stay Focused are basically a dream come true! Obviously, stamping your own lists is the first thing that comes to mind (check this awesome idea from Design Team member Katie Gehring), but there are many other things you can make with them. Like making a list-inspired birthday card… List card 1 I stamped the background using Pattern Play stamp set and On My Mark stamp set to stamp both the list numbers and the “to do” items. The cute heart comes from Monochrome stamp set. List card 2 The list was framed using the Surface – Tag die – Scallop add on dies. I used a simple method to alter it’s size so it would fit the list. I’m showing how to do it on my blog, hope to see you there, too! Thanks for visiting and happy weekend!
