Intro to Card Designer Release - Day 2 - Sentiments
Welcome to Day 2 of the Waffle Flower February Release Introductions! With this month’s release, we’re exploring card design with the 3 basic elements of cardmaking: the focal point, the sentiment, and the background. We touched on a little on all of these elements yesterday, but today is all about the sentiments!
There’s nothing as satisfying as finding the perfect sentiment to match your card. But what makes a sentiment perfect? It always starts with the right message (of course), but here’s some other tips for getting the sentiment just right.
One factor to consider with choosing sentiments is scale. If you’re looking for big and bold, Waffle Flower has the “oversized” series with a wide variety of messages. This month, we’re continuing the series with the Oversized Miss Stamp Set and Die Set.
Oversized Miss
stamp: $16; word die: $10; combo: $24
In this card, Jeanne uses the new Oversized Miss Die as a sentiment and focal point! She uses the outline die to highlight the sentiment in gold glitter cardstock and added one of the many subsentiments to customize her message.
Another factor to consider is where to place your sentiment. Maybe you want to balance a card with some symmetry or maybe you want to create visual movement across the card.
Vertical Sentiments
stamp: $16; matching die: $28; combo: $42
With this card, Dilay takes advantage of the orientation of the new Vertical Sentiments Stamp Set to match the other vertical elements of the card. This Vertical Sentiment Set will give you new options that just aren’t possible with horizontal sentiments.
If you still can’t seem to find the right sentiment in your stash, you can always create a custom sentiment with alpha and number dies like this one created by Dilay! She pairs the new Tower Outline Number Die Set with a sentiment from the previously-released Sentiment Additions 2 set to create a card that perfectly fits the occasion!
Tower Outline Number Die
From whimsical to classic, petite to oversized, for holidays or every day, we hope that you find the perfect sentiment here at Waffle Flower! As cardmakers ourselves, we’re always looking for the perfect sentiment too! We hope you join us tomorrow when we share more from the new February release and discuss another card element, backgrounds!
