Waffle Flower x Tombow Inspiration Week - Day 5
Hello everyone! We have teamed up with our friends at Tombow to bring you a whole week of inspirations using products from both of our companies!
It's Nina here today! I have a fun organizational video to share. This would make a great weekend project!
Tombow Dual Brush Pens Color Chart, Live Swatches and Staining Test
I found this color chart by Tombow sorted by the numbers that are printed on the pen and went ahead and number the holes in the same order.
As you can see here, the numbers on these Dual Brush Pens are probably manufacture numbers and do not reflect the hue, saturation or intensity of the colors.
I'm going to create a hand color chart by matching the colors myself, sorting them into blending groups by color family.
I cutout my little swatches from smooth Bristol paper using Color Swatches Matching Die. You should use the paper that you will be using these markers with for a true color reference. You can also just trim your paper to size rather than using a die.
Arrange the colors to your liking for your chart! I call them "Live Swatches" because like the tool "Live Paint" in Adobe Illustrator, I can easily tweak the colors and the grouping!
If you like the grouping, I also made them into a blank hand color chart so you can download, print and color for your own reference!
Right click on the chart image and save it to your computer. In your print dialog window, choose "Scale to fit" - "Print entire image".
The Staining Test!
I also tested all the colors on our Water Media Mat! No worries - this is an old mat we use for testing purposes!

The original test was done on an old mat and it may had some cleaner residues that affected the performance of the pens. Also, I smudged the borders I drew so I went back and did another test!
This is how the colors should look like when you put it down on your mat. Smooth with minimum beading.
All Colors Clean Off with a Baby Wipe!!! Yay!!!
The ones in questions marks are the ones that left a tiny hint after my first cleaning.
So I gave them a minute to dry and go over with a piece of babywipe again and there is no residual visible to me! Yay!!!
To keep it simple for you, the 8 colors that took me a couple of times to clean off are: 685, 815, 755, 743, 703, 905, 885, 845! and I updated my chart!!!

The whole project took me about 4 hours to finish. A great weekend project, isn't it?
