Nina's Top 6 Picks
Hello everyone! Nina here! Those of you who have been with us since when waffleflower.com was just my personal blog knew that I started the business to stretch myself and to explore the possibilities in product designs. I'm glad that 6 years later, I still feel like a new born. I am grateful for all the help and support we've received from this amazing community.
I want to share 6 products that have shaped my path.
1. Flower Circles Stamp Set - Discontinued
This set was released in our 2nd release back in 2014. I was very much into pattern stamping at that time and wanted something basic with an organic feel. It's been a personal favorite. On this card, I paired it with our first tag die that is now updated as Santa Tags Die. Yes, hemp cords were popular on cards at that time!
2. Doily Circle Die
This die was released back in April 2015. It was the first thing I drew on my beloved Wacom Tablet that I received as a Christmas gift. It brought us into many new stores. Even today, I think its the only doily die that's intricate but still not your gramma's doily? I paired it with my first flower set for a mother's day card.
3. Hibiscus Stamp Set - Discontinued
Release back in July 2015, I spent 6 months developing these monkey characters and coordinating sets. I love each and every one of them dearly but they were a hit-or-miss. I realized that I couldn't illustrate all the sets myself. We have now discontinued most of the sets and many of them are now in Last Chance. Here's my favorite card using them. I started Copic coloring with this release.
4. Enveloper Hello
After realizing that we need real illustrators, Helen Dardik was the first to join the family. This is the first set released back in January 2017. I was inspired by her illustrations on envelopes with a sharpie to bring smile to her recipients. This was another hit-or-miss. I'm still thinking maybe there are ways we can have her artwork done differently? Yes, this is also when we had our first A7 die set!
5. Carnations Stamp Set
Released in May 2018, we started having 5x7 stamp sets this year. I was recovering from a small surgery and my husband brought me a bouquet of carnations. I wanted to capture their beauty in a stamp set. Some people were saying the layers are hard to line-up. I realized I should look up from my own work every now and then to see what others are doing. I still love this set myself and paired it with another favorite die I drew earlier.
6. Bouquet Builder 1
Released back in April 2018, this is the first set in our popular Bouquet Builder series. I was obsessed with collecting and trying out different watercolors and was planning on our Color Swatches release. This is also the release when I started to realize that we need a different vendor to be able to bring the die cost down.
We have released many more popular sets since then... How time flies!
I'm still putting every single set we have together myself, with the help from many talented people, hoping to be better and better with each release. If one of our sets touches your heart, I would be most delighted.
I am grateful for all the love and support from all of you. Waffle Flower wouldn't make it this far without you.
So, here is the giveaway question that I need you to answer in the comment section :) --- I consider card making a form of meditation and it provides me the chance to be alone, to think and to reflect. I know some people who like to craft with families around or with friends. How about you?
Love always,
Nina
Gorgeous cards. I do my best crafting late at night, on my own.
