Freckled Fawn + Waffle Flower Blog Hop with May Park
Hello everyone! Welcome to day 4 of a week long inspiration brought to you by Freckled Fawn and Waffle Flower Crafts! We have simplified the blog hop to two stops - our blog here and the blog of Freckled Fawn. Stop by both of our blogs for inspiration and prizes! We have our very talented design team member: May Sukyong Park here today!
Hi crafty friends! It’s May here with a masculine card that I made using Starry Night stamp set and Surface-Tag Die-Scallop Add-on die set from Waffle Flower Crafts combined with some lovely goodies from Freckled Fawn. Without further ado, here is what I came up with:
I wanted to highlight the sentiment "You're one out of a million!" from Starry Night stamp set. Doesn't it sound awesome itself? The sentiment fitted in nicely with the label die cut from Surface-Tag Die-Scallop Add-on die set. I placed my paper clip to point out my sentiment, and then I emphasized only one star by applying some glitter glue on it.
To be honest, I went out of my comfort zone for my card. This might sound stupid, but it took me almost one hour to arrange the wooden stars and arrow paper clip from Freckled Fawn. Placing little items on the right place was challenging for me as a CAS card maker who rarely do layers and embellishments. But I'm glad that I gave it a shot. (wink!)
Anyway I love how my card turned out. Layered papers, twine in a circular pattern, wooden stars... They look so gorgeous on my gray card front. What do you think? Hopefully you’ll see more clean and layered cards from me in the future. Ha-ha!
This is the step-by-step tutorial on how I put together my card. 1)Apply various colors of Distress Ink on a piece of white cardstock using ink blending tool. To create my own background, I used five different colors: Dusty Concord, Black Soot, Iced Spruce, Peeled Paint, and Wild Honey. 2)Die cut a label out of inked paper using Surface-Tag Die-Scallop Add-on die set. 3)Heat emboss the sentiment from Starry Night stamp set on the die cut label using white embossing powder. 4)Place a piece of vellum on patterned paper at slight angle and sew them together. Adhere the sentiment label over the vellum and put it aside. Next, attach some natural twine in a circular pattern on a piece of Slate Gray cardstock. Then adhere the sentiment panel over the twine using foam squares. 5)Adhere card front piece to the Fog Gray cardstock card base using foam squares. Then place the star wooden chips using glue. 6)Apply some gold stickles on a bigger star and put an arrow clip on the card.
Well, that’s all I have today. Hope you liked my card and got some inspiration. Thank you so much for hopping with us! Happy crafting!

FABULOUS card May!!!
LOVE the sentiment with the yummy inky background, LOVE your layers over the circles of twine and LOVE your stars with one popping with golden sparkle – LOVE IT ALL!!!
THANK YOU for sharing your card & tutorial and about your starry struggle too – I confess that I appreciate you letting us know because I can fiddle with elements on my cards for ages and it can be the most time consuming part of the entire card => you should make a bundle of these because I think you have the design & colors just right!!!
