Faber-Castell & Waffle Flower Inspiration Week - Day 3 - [Video] How to Add Texture & Color to Card Using Gelatos
Hello everyone! Welcome to day 3 of Faber-Castell and Waffle Flower Inspiration Week! We team up with our friends at Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft to bring you an entire week of mixed-media inspiration! We have Mayline here today! Hello everyone, it’s Mayline here today to share. Faber-Castell has amazing products; there are watercolor pencils, Crayons, Pastels, Pens, and so on. I believe that the most innovative product from Faber-Castell is Gelatos. Gelatos are very buttery so you can easily blend them like Pastels using fingers without water. They are also watersoluble so they can be used to create watercolor effects. How great is that?! I am fully in love with the Gelatos. They also work well with Waffle Flower products! Let’s take a look at my projects.
Project 1
It was my first time trying to create a mixed-media project using Gelatos and Textural Accents Whipped Spackle. I did not know what to do or how to apply them. So I watched tutorials on YouTube and found many techniques. I used simple techniques on my first card. Here are a few pictures to show you how easy it was to create the background for the card.- Use washi tape to create stripes on cardstock.
- Apply “Lemon” Gelato; blend with finger.
- Mix Whipped Spackle with "Lemon" Gelato; apply to the left side of the card base; let dry.
- Apply a random coat of Whipped Spackle for additional texture; let dry.
- Peel off washi tape.
Very interesting!
That is great card.
Thank you for sharing.

I’ve never seen whipped spackle – thanks for showing how to use it. it makes it look like a brick wall in texture. Very cool. thanks for sharing your ideas.
