Faber-Castell & Waffle Flower Inspiration Week - Day 3 - [Video] How to Add Texture & Color to Card Using Gelatos
Hello everyone! Welcome to day 3 of Faber-Castell and Waffle Flower Inspiration Week! We team up with our friends at Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft to bring you an entire week of mixed-media inspiration!
We have Mayline here today!
Hello everyone, it’s Mayline here today to share. Faber-Castell has amazing products; there are watercolor pencils, Crayons, Pastels, Pens, and so on. I believe that the most innovative product from Faber-Castell is Gelatos. Gelatos are very buttery so you can easily blend them like Pastels using fingers without water. They are also watersoluble so they can be used to create watercolor effects. How great is that?! I am fully in love with the Gelatos. They also work well with Waffle Flower products! Let’s take a look at my projects.
Here are a few pictures to show you how easy it was to create the background for the card.
I used three different ink colors to create a blended look on the petals. It is a fast and easy technique and here are a few pictures to show you how. I used A Bunch Stamp Set , A Bunch Die and Spring Blend inkpad, the color numbers are 4(Sweet lilac), 5(Pretty Peony) and 6(Rose Bud).
Here are a couple of close-ups:
And a quick video to show you how I made the card. Watch it here or on Waffle Flower's Youtube Channel here. http://youtu.be/mud88qPYZoo I used A Bunch Stamp Set & A Bunch Die (flowers), Congrats Die (sentiments), Doily Circle Die (yellow background), Pattern Play Stamp Set (banner) from Waffle Flower, and Gelatos (Lemon, Guava, Bubble Cum, and Metallic Melon) and Artist Pens (SILVER 251 and Gold 250) from Faber Castell
That’s all for today. I hope you like my mixed-media projects and are inspired to make something yourself. --- Mayline Thank you for sharing your amazing cards with us, Mayline! We loved watching the video!

Project 1
It was my first time trying to create a mixed-media project using Gelatos and Textural Accents Whipped Spackle. I did not know what to do or how to apply them. So I watched tutorials on YouTube and found many techniques. I used simple techniques on my first card.

- Use washi tape to create stripes on cardstock.
- Apply “Lemon” Gelato; blend with finger.
- Mix Whipped Spackle with "Lemon" Gelato; apply to the left side of the card base; let dry.
- Apply a random coat of Whipped Spackle for additional texture; let dry.
- Peel off washi tape.

Project 2
I had fun getting messy with the Gelatos and Whipped Spackle on my second card. I used Doily Circle Die from Waffle Flower as the stencil for this technique.

So pretty Mayline! The whipped Spackle gives a light feathery feel.

You’re gone miles in convincing me to give gelatos and spackle a try. I have both, and they’re sitting neglected. Your tutorial will definitely change that scenario! Play date with both happening later today! Thank you for the inspiration!
