[Guest] Anniversary Project Life Spread by Mariko Brown

on August 10, 2016
Hello, it's Mariko here. I am so happy to be sharing my pocket-style weekly photo album page as a Waffle Flower Crafts guest designer today. I am in love with Jumbo Letter Die, so I spelled "LOVE" with them for my wedding anniversary page from last week. Anniversary Project Life Spread MB_01   Jumbo Letter Dies neatly fit in the 3x4 inch vertical pocket leaving enough room for embellishment and small journals. Size really matters when it comes to pocket-style scrapbooking! Anniversary Project Life Spread MB 02 I also used Sketchy Alpha Stamp, Sketchy Numbers Stamp, Sketchy Numbers Die, and a tiny butterfly from Rosette Hearts Template Die. Anniversary Project Life Spread MB 03 I have used the Jumbo Letter Dies to spell "USA" for my 4th of July page, "SLC" for my Salt Lake City travel album, and I am planning to play with "NOEL" for this year's Christmas crafting. I am so excited for these stylish, versatile, and perfect-for-3x4in-pocket sized Jumbo Letter Dies! Thank you for stopping by!

DIY Monogram Keychains - Katie Gehring

on July 21, 2016
DesignTeamHeadshots-KatieGehring Hello friends, Katie here with an easy DIY project- monogram keychains. Monogrammed items are timeless and with Waffle Flower Craft’s Jumbo letter dies and some felt or even leather or suede, they are simple to make too. Gehring- WFC- Monogram Keychains 1 To make the circle keychain tags, I die cut 2- 4” felt circles. I also cut the scalloped layer with the Flower Circles Inverted die. I placed the alphabet die on top of one of the felt circles and ran it through my Big Kick. I used a backstitch to stitch the around outline of the letter. I cut some extra letters from different colored felt and experimented with some different color combinations before selecting the final colors. Gehring- WFC- Monogram Keychains 4 Before I adhered the layers together, I cut a small length of grosgrain ribbon, looped it through a metal key ring and sandwiched it between the layers. There are many glues that work well with felt, but I’ve had good experience with Alene’s original Tacky Glue. It’s widely available, inexpensive and does the job. I am planning to attach these monogram tags to my daughters’ backpacks when they head back to school next month. Gehring- WFC- Monogram Keychains 2 My next monogram keychain is dressed up a bit in suede. I found a thin piece of suede at my local Hobby Lobby and was very excited that it was easy to die cut with the Jumbo Letter dies. For the Keychain shape, I used the Surface- Tag Die- Starter Kit. Gehring- WFC- Monogram Keychains 3 I die cut two of the tag shapes from the felt and die cut the letter from one of the tags. I stitched around the outline of the letter. As it came time for assembly, I decided the suede could use a bit more body, so I die cut a felt tag and sandwiched the suede on either side. I used Beacon 527 Multi Use Glue to hold all the layers together. Since I was using a light color suede, I also used a Copic marker to color the thin inner letter portion rather than investing in multiple colors of suede. To add a little more stability, I reinforced the keyring tag with a silver eyelet. I am planning to try this design out with leather- I just need to find leather that’s the right thickness. I think these will make great holiday gifts for my coworkers and colleagues this year. Well that’s all for me today. I hope you are inspired to add a little monogram to your life using the Jumbo Alphabet Dies. I’d love to see what you create!

Jumbo Letter Fun by Katie Gehring

on July 12, 2016
DesignTeamHeadshots-KatieGehringHello friends, Katie here. I’ve been having so much fun with Waffle Flower Crafts new Jumbo Alphabet Letter dies, and I have a couple cards to share with you today using the Jumbo Letter A-Z set and the Balloon Messages die. My first card uses the Jumbo Letter Dies as rounded letter balloons. I die cut the letters from vellum and adhered them to a panel of white card stock. I die cut and adhered the balloon string to each letter to complete the balloon look. Cutting the letters from vellum helps reinforce the balloon look. The trick with vellum is hiding the adhesive in such a way that it doesn’t show. To do this, I use a Xyron Create-a-Sticker. The 1.5” width is the perfect size for coating the letters with adhesive evenly. wfc-3-jumbo-letter-happy-2 My next card uses the Alphabet dies and the speech bubble die from the Balloon Messages die set. I used more vellum for the bubbles and die cut the letters from white card stock. This design is super flexible and you can swap out letters- OMG can easily become YAY, EEK, LOL, WOW or anything you can imagine. wfc-3-jumbo-letter-omg-1 Thanks for stopping by! Katie
