[Guest] Cards for Gift Cards with Amy Yang

Hello everyone!!! I’m so happy to be back guesting for Waffle Flower Crafts. During the holiday season I purchase a lot of gift cards to give to family members and for people I’d like to thank, like teachers. So I wanted to design projects that be can be mass produced to hold my gift cards. wfc-20161128-gift-card-amy-1 For these projects I used the Gift Bag Die, which I think is an awesome die to have around. It’s just so perfect to hold gift cards and other small gifts like jewelry. You can decorate it to fit any occasion and it looks great on top of cards. I also used Faye Stamp Set, Stocking Stamp Set, and the Willy and Friends Stamp Set. If you don’t want to include the monkeys, you can easily make these projects using the gift bag die set and the stocking stamp set. It’ll look just as nice…I’ll probably do that all the male recipients. I started this project by stamping and coloring the images using copic markers. Next, using colored papers, I used the gift bag die set to cut out the pieces I needed. I didn’t want the cards to have too much dimension (for mailing purposes) so I only used one side of the gift bag with one handle and taped it directly onto the front layer of both cards. Then, I stamped sentiment, Merry Christmas. Lastly, I used double sided tape to adhere the monkeys and their accessories to the front of the gift bags. wfc-20161128-gift-card-amy-2 wfc-20161128-gift-card-amy-3 For the next project I made the gift bag using two of the die cuts. I adhered the two pieces together along with the handles using double sided tape. Once again, I decorated the front of the gift bag using my colored images. Since there was no place to stamp or write I made a mini card, the size of the gift bag pocket. I taped the card directly onto the back of the gift bag. This allowed me to stamp a sentiment and write a little message. You can close the card using clear tape. wfc-20161128-gift-card-amy-4 wfc-20161128-gift-card-amy-5 I had so much fun working with these wonderful products. I hope I have inspired you in some way. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!!! ~Amy Supplies: Gift Bag Die Faye Stamp Set Stocking Stamp Set Willy & Friends Stamp Set

[Guest Video] Celebrate Year of the Monkey - Emily Leiphart

Hi, everyone! It's Emily here and I'm so happy to be guesting on the Waffle Flower blog today with this Chinese New Year card and video! I wanted to use the monkeys from Willy & Friends with the Christmas set Stockings and a sentiment from Congrats to show how versatile all of these sets can be. I coloured the monkeys and gift/red envelope with Copic markers and die cut them with their coordinating dies. Then I tied gold string around the red envelope, heat embossed the sentiment in gold and painted the edges of the card base with gesso. After assembling the card, I added a yellow enamel heart to the girl monkey's belly. I'll have to make a bunch more of these cuties to send out!

Hello everyone! Before putting your holiday themed products away, why not use them to make a few cards to use in the new year first? Our friend Melania has an idea for you! Magical Birthday with Money Gifts Melania used three stamp sets on this card: Claire Stamp SetStocking Stamp Set and Magical Stamp Set.
She used masking technique to make her mountain of gifts and colored them with Copics. She heat embossed the sentiment in white and blended some dye ink in for the background. She also splashed some water with a brush and added some sequins for a fun look!

on December 20, 2015
Hello everyone! Our friend Melania is on the blog today!
Christmas Stocking Card 1
Today I have a card I made with Stocking Stamp SetStocking DieWilly Stamp Set and Faye Stamp Set.
I stamped and colored the cute monkeys using Copics.  I paper pieced the stockings with some patterned paper.
For the background, I blended some dye inks on the card base and then splashed some water with my brush. After that, I used a snow stencil with white pigment ink to make it more snowy.
The sentiment was heat embossed with white embossing powder.

[Guest] Aqua + Red for Christams - Elena Roussakis

Hello there! It's Elena here, and I am so happy to be guesting on the Waffle Flower blog today! I love a great aqua and red color combo for Christmas, don't you? elena-stocking-card-1 I used a lot of the pieces from the Stocking Stamp Set to create a fun collage card with kind of a patterned paper feel. I used sticky note paper, and die-cut the images that I would want to use. No stamping yet, just the matching die-cuts to the images I would be using. I then placed them randomly around the card front. Then, I used a sponge and some blue ink to add color to the background. While the masks were still in place, I splattered brown ink over the entire panel. I love peeling back the sticky paper to reveal crisp white, un-inked card stock! elena-stocking-card-2 The fun part comes next. I took all of the images and stamped them into the appropriate spaces. I colored all of the images in red, beige or white, even the little Christmas tree. Sticking to a tight color scheme helps to give a polished and stylized look to the card. To finish off the images, I added some highlights with a white gel pen. It adds a little pop! The sentiment was heat-embossed onto a piece of kraft cardstock, and I added a tiny clothespin and red bow to the top. I hope you like what I created! Thanks for having me, Waffle Flower! ♥. --- Thank you for sharing with us, Elena! We love all the beautiful details on your card! Aqua & Red may just become our favorite color combo. (Wink!)

Happy Monday, everyone! Time for some inspiration from the Challenge Team! Marcie, Daria and Shona are here to share their takes on the December Waffle Flower Challenge! Join the fun by linking your projects to our challenge too! wfc201512 Our guest designer for this month: Lydia Evans has a cute video for us with lots of great tips! Products: Good Stuff Stamp Set WFC-12-14-Lydia Evans(guest)

Marcie Sharp

Products: Good Stuff Stamp Set, Starry Night Stamp Set, Magical Word Die What Marcie Says: Layering stamps can be so fun when perfectly crafted sets do most of the work for you! I easily stamped the jar and layers from "Good Stuff" in various ink colours, then layered some tiny stars from Starry Night over top. Choosing your ink colours carefully to make sure they layer well and work together is a must! WFC-12-14-Marcie Sharp Filled with "Magic"?! We love that Marcie carefully trimmed "Magical" word die for her sentiment!

Daria Garushina

Products: Tribal Bear Stamp Set, Leafy Stamp Set What Daria Says: I used the blanket from Tribal Bear stamp set, and stamped it with white pigment ink over kraft cardstock - that is one of my favorite techniques, and then stamped over it with different colors of inks... Love the effect :) WFC-12-14-Daria Grushina The entire Tribal Bear Stamp Set is about layering! We love Daria's choice of colors and that pop of teal and white under the sentiment!

Shona Chambers

Products: Stocking Stamp Set, Stocking Die What Shona Says: I wanted to create the look of pine branches on a mantel (from which the stocking is hung) and was going to use different green colours to get some variation but found that as I overlapped (layered) the stamping, it created darker and lighter areas on its own. WFC-12-21-Shona ChambersJust like what Shona says, one of the benefits of stamp layering is that you can get different shades of color using one ink pad! Hope you are inspired to try the stamp layering technique! Find time to create and make something today!

Happy Monday, everyone! Time for some inspiration from the Challenge Team! Annette, Shelly, and Laura Jane are here to share their takes on the December Waffle Flower Challenge! Join the fun by linking your projects to our challenge too! wfc201512 Our previous challenge winner: Anika Lerche is also sharing with us today! WFC-12-7 Guest Anika Anika says: For the background I stamped the sentiments in white pigment ink. I let it dry overnight. Then I stamped the dogs in dye ink over the white ink. For the main image I stamped the dog, added some dimension with Prismacolors and some details with a black gel pen. Using On My Mark Stamp Set, On My Mark Die, Monochrome Stamp Set WFC-12-7-Anika Lerche How cool is the hand stamped sentiment background on Anika's card? We also love that crisp black speech bubble for the sentiment! Thanks Anika for including the detailed shot! WFC-12-7-Anika Lerche2

Annette Allen

Using Stocking Stamp Set, Stocking Die, DT Mix Stamp Set, Flower Circles Die Annette says: I first stamped all the images on a scrap piece of paper. Using the Stamp Layering technique I stamped the stocking pattern from Stocking stamp set. Next I stamped over the heart from DT Mix this fun sentiment also from the Stocking stamp set. I LOVE this sketch so I added that into the mix also created a fun watercolor background just to give it a little more color. WFC-12-7-Annette Allen We are totally in love with this wonderful free-style collage look: the teal heart, the little dotted circle and the watercolored background! We also love that Annette stamped the long sentiment form Stocking stamp set on two lines to fit in the heart! Perfect!

Shelly Kurth

Using Surface Tag Stamp Set, Starry Night Stamp SetBe My Guest Stamp Set Shelly says: For my stamp layering I decided to overlap all my smaller stars in different shades of blue. WFC-12-7-Shelly Kurth Shelly, you've done it again! We are amazed at how you take all the inspiration and make it into something so simple yet so unique and fun! We love how you layered the star stamps!

Laura Jane

Using Stocking Stamp Set, Doily Circle Stamp Set Laura Jane says: I used the many different images from the STOCKING stamp set to create a layered "one of a kind" stocking:) Just a bit of masking magic allowed for flawless ink color changes. The Doily Circle stamp set added an extra layer of goodness to my card base. WFC-12-7-Laura Jane We love that Laura Jane leaves the images uncolored - the "hand-drawn" look adds so much to a Christmas card. Did you see that doily flower stamp peeking from the top right corner? So fun! ___ Aren't these cards fantastic? For more details, please click on the designer's name/link! Hello everyone! We have Kay back on the blog today! KayM-stocking2 Hello! I am excited to be back on the Waffle Flower blog today to share with you a card I created using the super fun Stocking stamp set and dies! I started with some watercolor paper and blended some Crushed Olive and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks on the top left corner, then sprinkled with water to get the little white spots. I let this dry very well and in the mean time worked on coloring the cute stocking and filling it with presents and Christmas goodies! I used my Copic markers for all of the coloring, then cut everything out with the matching dies. I glued the little packages, candy cane and tree to the back of the stocking, then added foam tape to the whole thing and adhered it to my sponged piece. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in black ink along the bottom and then added a few clear 4mm sequins for a festive touch. KayM-Stocking I hope you have enjoyed my card today. Thank you for stopping by, and huge thanks to the great people at Waffle Flower Crafts for inviting me to guest with them! - Kay --- Thank you for sharing with us, Kay! It was a great pleasure to "work" with you! Have a wonderful holiday season!

York Tee

I used both regular and reverse masking techniques on this card. I die cut several feathers in varied styles and sizes to use as masks.  I also used the negative diecuts for reverse masking. I stamped some feathers and blended over them on white paper with inks using sponge dauber.
WFC-11-23-York Tee Using: Feather More Stamp Set; Feather More Die; Tiny Twine Bow Die; Fall Blend Inkpad; Winter Blend Inkpad

Isha Gupta

I used liquid masking fluid to mask the chain before stamping the pine leaves. I masked the stocking using post it before I stamped the gifts.
WFC-11-23-Isha Gupta Using: Stocking Stamp Set; Stocking Die; Willy and Friends Stamp Set

Tessa Wise

I was inspired by the colors in the inspiration photo! I masked a circle cutout on my kraft colored cardbase and added some rose colored ink to the center to create an ombre look. I stamped the leaf over the top in the same color ink.
