Rolled Roses Thank You Card

on October 22, 2014
Hello everyone! I was inspired by May Park's rolled felt flowers using our Flower Circles Die to make my card for today. I used patterned paper instead of felt and thought I should share a few tricks I've learned for conditioning paper to make it easier to roll. wfc-rolled-flowers-thankful-card 1. Choose a few patterned paper you like. Diecut with the biggest scalloped circle die from Flower Circles Die. wfc-rolled-flowers-thankful-card-step-1 2. Slice the scalloped circle diecut open and use the end of a paint brush to shape it into a spiral shape. We call this "conditioning the paper". wfc-rolled-flowers-thankful-card-step-2 3. Wrap the conditioned paper on your finger tip to help shape it into a flower. wfc-rolled-flowers-thankful-card-step-3 4. Lay the rolled flower loose on your table and glue the loose end to the body. wfc-rolled-flowers-thankful-card-step-4 5. Use the end of a paint brush again to roll the tips of the petals out for a more realistic look. wfc-rolled-flowers-thankful-card-step-5 6. Apply liquid glue to the edges and press down firmly on your surface. Hold until the glue is dry. wfc-rolled-flowers-thankful-card-step-6 7. Adhere a foam dot to the back of a enamel dot for the flower center. wfc-rolled-flowers-thankful-card-step-7 Easy peasy, right? wfc-rolled-flowers-thankful-card-closeup I hope that you are inspired to give it a try! I love it when a die can help me make dimensional embellishments. Flower Circles Die is now back in stock! Thank you for stopping by! Happy Crafting!

Gift Card Holder for Mom

Mothersday giftcard holder

This week's Joy's Life Design Team Challenge is to create a project with something that moves… Well, the ribbon unties to reveal a gift card inside in this project:)

I do not use ribbons much (though I have a ton of them) but now I see why we need a ribbon hole border punch:) I would like to share how I did this with a Mcgills Hand Punch

1. Start with a piece of 4-1/4" x 9-3/4" cardstock, long side at top, score at 1-1/4" and 4-1/4"; fold.

2. Mark every 1/2" starting from the middle on the short 1-1/4" flap (as shown)

Step 2

3. Punch ribbon holes. This is when I wish I had a border one. You can use a 1/8" hole punch and punch on both sides of the marks as well. As long as your ribbon will go through.

Step 3

4. Mark the middle two holes on the piece under and punch them out.

Step 4

5. We are using two pieces of ribbons. thread the first one like so and through the middle one on the outside flap as well. I do not have the color of ribbon so I colored some white ones with a R32 Copic (closest color I have for Zing Aqua Embossing powder.)

Step 5

6. Thread the second piece of ribbon from the middle two holes outwards as shown: (I just attached the tails on the back using some scotch tape)

Step 6

The rosette I used is the same one as seen here: I just love this die!

Happy Anniversary
