Five for Friday - Welcome Spring by Lorena

on March 11, 2016
Hello, Waffle Flower friends! Lorena here today for a brand new Five for Friday. We are all yearning for Spring, aren't we? So I thought I could focus on the awesomeness of that Season that's almost here. Let's get started!!! 1. After months of cold weather and empty, snow covered gardens, the promise of greener days starts to show... spring 1 Source 2. And before you know it, everything around will be in bloom. spring 2 Source 3. Not to mention Easter! Eggs! Peeps! It's the time for all things pretty and pastel! spring 3 Source 4. Although Summer seems to be a wedding favorite, Spring is too such a beautiful season to tie the knot spring 4 Source 5. And April Fools is another Spring favourite date, right? This joke for kids cracks me :) spring 5 Source After all this inspiration, I decided I wanted to stamp a Spring wreath to celebrate all things flowery and pretty. Twig wreaths seem to be very trendy lately, so I searched in my Waffle Flower Stash until I found the perfect stamp to create the twig base for my wreath. Can you guess what I used? wreath1 The wonky circle/moon outline from Starry Night stamp set happened to be exactly what I needed. I stamped it several times and voilá! A twig wreath ready to hold some pretty flowers and leaves from Loved stamp set. wreath2 The sentiment comes from the newly released Welcome Spring stamp set. I added a bit of glitter to the flowers with a clear Wink of Stella pen and the rustic white pannel was cut from the also bran new Lacy Layers die. wreath3 And there you have it! I'm ready to welcome Spring now. Thanks for visiting and happy weekend! wreath411

[Video] Inspiration from the Challenge Team - December 14

on December 14, 2015
Happy Monday, everyone! Time for some inspiration from the Challenge Team! Marcie, Daria and Shona are here to share their takes on the December Waffle Flower Challenge! Join the fun by linking your projects to our challenge too! wfc201512 Our guest designer for this month: Lydia Evans has a cute video for us with lots of great tips! Products: Good Stuff Stamp Set WFC-12-14-Lydia Evans(guest)

Marcie Sharp

Products: Good Stuff Stamp Set, Starry Night Stamp Set, Magical Word Die What Marcie Says: Layering stamps can be so fun when perfectly crafted sets do most of the work for you! I easily stamped the jar and layers from "Good Stuff" in various ink colours, then layered some tiny stars from Starry Night over top. Choosing your ink colours carefully to make sure they layer well and work together is a must! WFC-12-14-Marcie Sharp Filled with "Magic"?! We love that Marcie carefully trimmed "Magical" word die for her sentiment!

Daria Garushina

Products: Tribal Bear Stamp Set, Leafy Stamp Set What Daria Says: I used the blanket from Tribal Bear stamp set, and stamped it with white pigment ink over kraft cardstock - that is one of my favorite techniques, and then stamped over it with different colors of inks... Love the effect :) WFC-12-14-Daria Grushina The entire Tribal Bear Stamp Set is about layering! We love Daria's choice of colors and that pop of teal and white under the sentiment!

Shona Chambers

Products: Stocking Stamp Set, Stocking Die What Shona Says: I wanted to create the look of pine branches on a mantel (from which the stocking is hung) and was going to use different green colours to get some variation but found that as I overlapped (layered) the stamping, it created darker and lighter areas on its own. WFC-12-21-Shona ChambersJust like what Shona says, one of the benefits of stamp layering is that you can get different shades of color using one ink pad! Hope you are inspired to try the stamp layering technique! Find time to create and make something today!

Inspiration from the Challenge Team – December 7

on December 07, 2015
Happy Monday, everyone! Time for some inspiration from the Challenge Team! Annette, Shelly, and Laura Jane are here to share their takes on the December Waffle Flower Challenge! Join the fun by linking your projects to our challenge too! wfc201512 Our previous challenge winner: Anika Lerche is also sharing with us today! WFC-12-7 Guest Anika Anika says: For the background I stamped the sentiments in white pigment ink. I let it dry overnight. Then I stamped the dogs in dye ink over the white ink. For the main image I stamped the dog, added some dimension with Prismacolors and some details with a black gel pen. Using On My Mark Stamp Set, On My Mark Die, Monochrome Stamp Set WFC-12-7-Anika Lerche How cool is the hand stamped sentiment background on Anika's card? We also love that crisp black speech bubble for the sentiment! Thanks Anika for including the detailed shot! WFC-12-7-Anika Lerche2

Annette Allen

Using Stocking Stamp Set, Stocking Die, DT Mix Stamp Set, Flower Circles Die Annette says: I first stamped all the images on a scrap piece of paper. Using the Stamp Layering technique I stamped the stocking pattern from Stocking stamp set. Next I stamped over the heart from DT Mix this fun sentiment also from the Stocking stamp set. I LOVE this sketch so I added that into the mix also created a fun watercolor background just to give it a little more color. WFC-12-7-Annette Allen We are totally in love with this wonderful free-style collage look: the teal heart, the little dotted circle and the watercolored background! We also love that Annette stamped the long sentiment form Stocking stamp set on two lines to fit in the heart! Perfect!

Shelly Kurth

Using Surface Tag Stamp Set, Starry Night Stamp SetBe My Guest Stamp Set Shelly says: For my stamp layering I decided to overlap all my smaller stars in different shades of blue. WFC-12-7-Shelly Kurth Shelly, you've done it again! We are amazed at how you take all the inspiration and make it into something so simple yet so unique and fun! We love how you layered the star stamps!

Laura Jane

Using Stocking Stamp Set, Doily Circle Stamp Set Laura Jane says: I used the many different images from the STOCKING stamp set to create a layered "one of a kind" stocking:) Just a bit of masking magic allowed for flawless ink color changes. The Doily Circle stamp set added an extra layer of goodness to my card base. WFC-12-7-Laura Jane We love that Laura Jane leaves the images uncolored - the "hand-drawn" look adds so much to a Christmas card. Did you see that doily flower stamp peeking from the top right corner? So fun! ___ Aren't these cards fantastic? For more details, please click on the designer's name/link! DesignTeamHeadshots-SabrinaHello Waffle Flower friends! This is Sabrina with my final video for the Watch It Wednesday series. Today I’m playing around with an older favorite stamp set along with a new-to-me technique that’s been seen around lately – most recently by my friend Mary Dawn Quirindongo - watercolor smooshing. What a gorgeous effect it creates! Watercolor Smooshing-1 And when combined with a little chalk ink blending, it’s also such a quick and fun way to create a night sky/galaxy type background. The Starry Night stamp set and this technique were just meant to be! Watercolor Smooshing-2 You can check out the how-to in the video below and then add your stamping and embossing on top when everything is dry. Watch it below or on our Youtube channel. A Project Life Spread From Start to Finish with Patricia Roebuck

on September 19, 2014
Hello everyone! While we're busy preparing for our October release, our friend Patricia is taking over the blog today!
Patricia Roebuck is one of those crafters who are super talented, yet so sweet, so humble and so kind. We got to know each other through a design team a couple years ago and finally met at CHA earlier this year! We happened to have some friends in common and got to chat in real life! I am a card maker but I adore all my scrapbooker friends! I guess our passion and love for life is the bond?

A Project Life Spread - From Star to Finish

Hello!  I am so thrilled to be here.  I hope to do Nina’s stamps and dies justice.  They are such a great quality and so many different options with just one set.  I used Be My Guest stamp setBowtiful stamp setStarry Night stamp setTiny Circle Die, and Tiny Star Die for my Project Life spread.
Because I wanted to incorporated a lot of stamping, after I picked out my photos, I chose pattern papers that complimented my photos and that would work great with the stamps.
For my title or week card, I used the Tiny Circle DieTiny Star Die, and Be My Guest stamp set.
I added stamping on several of the cards and/or photos.  I love how the “HELLO” from the Bowtiful stamp set fit perfectly on a label to layer with my journaling.  And the Starry Night stamp set worked so well with this photo and pattern paper.
Using Starry Night stamp set, I stamped directly on my photo with a black permanent ink, added soft texture with the stars onto this die cut, and added more layers over this pattern paper.
The stamps and dies worked so well with my Project Life spread.  They added texture, color, and sentiments.
Pure Awesomeness, right? Thank you, Patricia, for sharing your talent with us! If you haven't already, you can find a card and a personalized notepad Patricia shared on her blog using our products here!
Thank everyone for stopping by! Happy Crafting!

Reach for the Stars with Agnieszka Malyszek

on September 09, 2014
Hello everyone! We have another guest today! wfc-guest-blogger-aga-starry-night-card-7 Agnieszka, aka Aga at just made from paper, is one of the first bloggers I've followed. I just love her projects and her photos! She has a fresh and modern style that is truly one of a kind. I love that she can come up with stunning cards from simple supplies. Take today's card for example, who would've thought of connecting the stamped confetti dots with a pencil?! See for yourself!

Reach for the Stars Card

Hi Everyone! I am extremely excited to be a Guest Designer at Waffle Flower today! My project is a CAS card featuring the new set called Starry Night and the Tiny Star Die:   I started my card by stamping the stars in a grey ink onto a grey card base: wfc-guest-blogger-aga-starry-night-card-1 I used an ordinary pencil to draw lines between stars and make them look like constellations. wfc-guest-blogger-aga-starry-night-card-2 Then, I used the little star die and cut out a dozen stars out of white cardstock. wfc-guest-blogger-aga-starry-night-card-3 Next I heat embossed the “reach for the stars” sentiment in gold. wfc-guest-blogger-aga-starry-night-card-4 wfc-guest-blogger-aga-starry-night-card-5 Finally I adhered all stars to my card base and finished it off with a piece of vellum, a white thread and the sentiment. wfc-guest-blogger-aga-starry-night-card-6 Thank you Nina for having me as a Guest Designer today! I've loved creating with your amazing stamps! Aga
