on January 04, 2016
Happy Monday, everyone! Time for some inspiration from the Challenge Team! Annette, Shelly, and Laura Jane are here, along with our previous challenge winner Quyen Ngo to share their takes on the January Waffle Flower Challenge! Join the fun by linking your projects to our challenge too!

Annette Allen

Using: Monochrome Stamp SetDoily Square DieWilly and Friends Die WFC-1-04-Annette Allen
What Annette Says: I first die cut Waffle Flowers Crafts: Doily Square Die and then used it as a stencil. Using dabblers I added this fun colorful blend of colors. I then die cut the middle using the Doily Square Die and created a fun window almost like if you were going to create a shaker card just minus the sequins. Finishing off with rounding the corners.

Shelly Kurth

Using: In Every Way Stamp SetLoved Stamp SetTiny Wings Die WFC-1-04-Shelly Kurth
What Shelly Says: For my stenciling, I chose to make my own stencil using the Tiny Wings die. I took a piece of scrap paper and one by one placed the butterfly where I wanted it and ran it through my die cutting machine. Thus giving me my stencil.

Laura Jane

Using: Magical Stamp SetHoliday Labels: MerryIn Every Way Stamp Set; Surface - Tag Die - Scallop Add-on WFC-1-04-Laura Jane
What Laura Says: For my card I started out with a stencil made from the Tag Scallop Die. To create a "window", I inked it up with Distress Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Seedless Preserves. Then I added several snowflakes and trees, embossed in different colors, for a wintery scene. Finished it off with the Magical Die in Silver paper:)

[Guest] Quyen Ngo

Using: Bowtiful Stamp Set WFC-1-14-Guest Quyen Ngo
What Quyen Says: I used distress inks in peacock feathers and tumbled glass to sponge on a template. I then repositioned the template slightly offset and used a white gelly roll pen to trace over the spaces. After the ink was dried, I stamped the sentiment and bow image (from Waffle Flower bowtiful stamp set) in VersaFine Onyx Black and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. As it was a simple card, to finish, I rounded the outer edges and put on some gems in random places for a little sparkle.

DesignTeamHeadshots-KimKesti The holiday season is certainly a busy one! Kim Kesti here sharing a quick and easy gift you can create for your child's teacher, a favorite hair dresser, or anyone on your "thank you" list. Kesti_CookieGift1 The supplies are minimal, you will need the Waffle Flower 100% Love Stamp Set along with the snowflake and string stamps from the Holiday Labels - Merry Stamp Set. I also used the Flower Circles Die Set (one of my favorite dies) to cut my pierced circles. Kesti_CookieGift2 Fold the stamped topper in half and add your cute little gift card (I die over these tiny Starbucks cups). I attached mine with a brad. Slip the pierced circle under your gift card and adhere. I love that this now looks like a tree ornament! Staple the finished topper to your cookie bag and you are done! I know a lot of folks on my list that would really enjoy this little cutie! Have a safe and wonderful holiday! Kim

Hello everyone! Are you getting busier and busier for the holiday season? Waffle Flower had such an amazing feedback from you for our Fall collection released in October that we have been packing like crazy everyday for the last 1.5 month. Twelve Days of Gift Giving - Day 11 - Make Lip Balm Gift Holders with Teri Anderson

on November 11, 2014
Day-11-of-12-Days-of-Gift-Giving-with-Teri Hello everyone! Welcome to Day 11 of our Twelve Days of Gift Giving event! Today we have one of our craft idols on the blog! Teri Anderson from A bit of this. A bit of that. We may never be as crafty as Teri but we can certainly try making these adorable lip balm gift holders following her detailed instruction here! You know someone is a crafting genius when she can transfer some simple supplies into something amazing like these, right? Enjoy!

Make Lip Balm Gift Holders with Teri Anderson

Hi everyone! Teri here, and I'm sure excited to contribute a project to Waffle Flower's Twelve Days of Gift Giving event! I'd like to present to you my lip balm gift holders. These gift holders take a little bit of time to make, but they are sure to please. You'll need: The first thing you'll need to do is find some lip balm in a blister-style package. I am using Chapstick that I found for a $1 at a local box store. Now, you'll need to make a base for your lip balm wrap. Cut a 3 1/5" x 9" rectangle. Set it horizontally on a scoring board. You'll score lines at the 4" and 5" marks. wf_s1_teri Fold it up and then flatten the wrap and get ready to decorate it. Ink up the label from the Holiday Labels - Give Thanks stamp set with a red water-based ink pad. Drop a little water onto the inked up label stamp with a water brush or a wet paint brush. wf_s2_teri Stamp the label and let it dry completely. wf_s3_teri Stamp the label from from the Holiday Labels - Merry stamp set on top. wf_s4_teri Stamp on a few stars too. wf_s5_teri Fussy cut the label with your scissors. Create a second label just like this first one. Now, you are going to want to make a blue label. Follow the same steps. Just use blue ink. And stamp a sentiment on top with black ink. wf_s6_teri Die-cut a couple trees with the Riverside die set and affix them to the blue label. Adhere the labels, some twine and sequins onto your lip balm packaging like so. wf_s7_teri Fold up the package. Place the lip balm inside it. Punch a hole completely through the package. wf_s8_teri Bring twine through the holes, holding the packaging and lip balm together. Tie a bow in the front of the package. wf_s9_teri Finish the gift off by adding a little glue to the die-cut trees and sprinkling on a little bit of glitter. wf_s10_teri When you are finished, you'll get something that looks like this. wf_joytotheworldlipglossholder_teri wf_joytotheworldlipglossholderclose_teri wf_joytotheworldlipglossholderside_teri If you make a lip balm holder to give as a gift, I'd love to see it! Please be sure to link up your project in the comments so I can come see it! Thanks again for having me! Twelve Days of Gift Giving - Day 10 - Make a Wine Tag with Karolyn Loncon

on November 10, 2014
Day-10-of-12-Days-of-Gift-Giving-with-Yainea Hello everyone! Welcome to Day 10 of Waffle Flower Crafts Twelve Days of Gift Giving event! We have the crafty Karolyn Loncon @ Paper Therapy  joining us today! We love that Karolyn's gift wrap is generic. You can use one for a hostess' gift at all occasions! Karolyn is such a loving, caring person that it just shows through her projects!

Make a Wine Tag with Karolyn Loncon

Hello!! I’m Karolyn Loncon, and am so happy to be a part of Waffle Flower’s 12 Days of Gift Giving extravaganza!! I decided to focus on a project that would show gratitude and appreciation to the host or hostess of your Thanksgiving celebration!! Waffle Flower 11-10-14 Thanksgiving Wine Bottle Tag Close Up   I think it’s so important to say “thank you” to anyone that opens their home and slaves over a hot stove to provide a lovely meal, don’t you? This is super easy to create! Here are the Waffle Flower products that I used: Flower Circles Die Set Holiday Label 1 Die Holiday Labels – Give Thanks Stamp Set Holiday Labels – Merry Stamp Set   STEP ONE: I gathered some fall themed patterned paper and some white cardstock, adhered each patterned paper to a cardstock panel to give it some substance, and then die cut each panel using the largest die from the Flower Circles Die Set. Waffle Flower 11-10-14 Step 1 STEP TWO: I used the woodgrain piece for the outside of the flower, and the leaf piece for the inside. The above photo shows the back of the two pieces, and how I adhered them together. I just tore off small pieces of washi tape and taped them around the circle to join the two pieces. Waffle Flower 11-10-14 Step 3 STEP THREE: Using images from both the Holiday Labels – Give Thanks Stamp Set and the Holiday Labels – Merry Stamp Set, I stamped a label for the wine bottle tag onto some yellow cardstock, and then die cut the label using the Holiday Label 1 Die. I found that it was easier to stamp first, and then die cut in order to find the true center of the stamping with the die cut. I used a bit of Post It tape to hold the die in place while cutting. Waffle Flower 11-10-14 Step 4 STEP FOUR: I adhered the label to the front of the flower/tag using some foam tape. I cut a piece of yellow polka dot ribbon that I had in my stash, and adhered it to the back of the flower/tag using some tape. I tied a bow for the top (I adhered that with a glue dot). Easy peasy! Waffle Flower 11-10-14 Step 5 I think this project shows that you care enough for your hostess that you took the time to hand make something for them, and that you appreciate their hard work and hospitality! Waffle Flower 11-10-14 Thanksgiving Wine Bottle Tag Isn't it adorable? What a thoughtful gift wrap! Thank you for sharing your talent with us, Karolyn!

Twelve Days of Gift Giving - Day 9 - Decorate Your Candles with Yainea

on November 09, 2014
Day-9-of-12-Days-of-Gift-Giving-with-Yainea Welcome to Day 9 of Waffle Flower Crafts Twelve Days of Gift Giving event! Yainea (@ My Paper Journey) is an amazing cardmaker who also makes super cute paper crafting projects. When we were planning for this event, her name just popped up! And her project made us WOW again!

Decorate Your Candles with Yainea

Hi there, Yainea here! I'm so excited to be guest designing on the Waffle Flower blog. I hope that you will enjoy my project! I decorated a candle and packaged it with a coordinating tag to give as a special handmade gift. The Holiday Labels - Merry stamp set is full of Christmas elements that are just perfect for this project! candle_02 I always love a handmade gift, I think it means a lot that someone takes the time to make somthing just for you :) candle_03 You might think it is hard to decorate a candle and it takes a lot of time, but it is actually not hard at all! Here are some step by step instructions to guide you through the process so you can see how easy it is: 1. Pick your images to stamp on some tissue paper.  I used the star ornament and the ornament hanger from Holiday Labels - Merry stamp set. You can use many different inks for this but I don't recommend dye inks because they smear a lot on this kind of paper. I used Delicata golden ink. I've tried heat embossing the images and it turned out gorgeous too :) tutorial_01 2. Cut each one of your stamped images out, leaving some white space around them and then adhere the cutouts to the candle using a glue stick. tutorial_02 3. Take a piece of wax paper and hold it tightly around the candle. Use your heat tool on the stamped images. If you see the wax starts to cover the stamped image and you could barely see the edges of your cut, then it's time to stop heating. Repeat this process on all images around the candle. tutorial_03 It is optional but I also misted some gold glitter all over the candle for a more festival look. :) 4. We're going to create the tag now. Stamp the holiday label and the sentiment in gold ink and die cut with the coordinating die. Cut two of the corners from a rectangle of kraft cardstock to make the tag base. tutorial_04 5. Stamp the little stars from the same Holiday Labels - Merry stamp set on the tag base. Adhere the label we made in the last step to the tag using foam adhesive. tutorial_05 6. Finally, let's pack the candle! Place it in a plastic bag and tie it with some twine adding the tag. And you're done! Easy, right? I hope you will give it a try! I'm going to make another candle using the snowflake from the same stamp set with blue ink. This gift idea is also perfect for Thanksgiving by using fall leaves on the candle and paired it with a thank you tag. There are many possibilities!! candle_01 Thank you so much Nina for having me, it was so fun joining the group of amazing crafters and seeing all the wonderful gift ideas during all this week. Hope that everyone will have a nice day! ____________________________________ Thank you for sharing your talent with us, Yainea! We will definitely give this candle project a try!
