DIY Monogram Keychains - Katie Gehring

DesignTeamHeadshots-KatieGehring Hello friends, Katie here with an easy DIY project- monogram keychains. Monogrammed items are timeless and with Waffle Flower Craft’s Jumbo letter dies and some felt or even leather or suede, they are simple to make too. Gehring- WFC- Monogram Keychains 1 To make the circle keychain tags, I die cut 2- 4” felt circles. I also cut the scalloped layer with the Flower Circles Inverted die. I placed the alphabet die on top of one of the felt circles and ran it through my Big Kick. I used a backstitch to stitch the around outline of the letter. I cut some extra letters from different colored felt and experimented with some different color combinations before selecting the final colors. Gehring- WFC- Monogram Keychains 4 Before I adhered the layers together, I cut a small length of grosgrain ribbon, looped it through a metal key ring and sandwiched it between the layers. There are many glues that work well with felt, but I’ve had good experience with Alene’s original Tacky Glue. It’s widely available, inexpensive and does the job. I am planning to attach these monogram tags to my daughters’ backpacks when they head back to school next month. Gehring- WFC- Monogram Keychains 2 My next monogram keychain is dressed up a bit in suede. I found a thin piece of suede at my local Hobby Lobby and was very excited that it was easy to die cut with the Jumbo Letter dies. For the Keychain shape, I used the Surface- Tag Die- Starter Kit. Gehring- WFC- Monogram Keychains 3 I die cut two of the tag shapes from the felt and die cut the letter from one of the tags. I stitched around the outline of the letter. As it came time for assembly, I decided the suede could use a bit more body, so I die cut a felt tag and sandwiched the suede on either side. I used Beacon 527 Multi Use Glue to hold all the layers together. Since I was using a light color suede, I also used a Copic marker to color the thin inner letter portion rather than investing in multiple colors of suede. To add a little more stability, I reinforced the keyring tag with a silver eyelet. I am planning to try this design out with leather- I just need to find leather that’s the right thickness. I think these will make great holiday gifts for my coworkers and colleagues this year. Well that’s all for me today. I hope you are inspired to add a little monogram to your life using the Jumbo Alphabet Dies. I’d love to see what you create!

Magical Card by Lorena

DesignTeamHeadshots-LorenaCantoHello friends! Lorena here with a Christmas card that is probably one of my favorites ever! I played with different Waffle Flower Crafts products to show you how great they mix. Can you spot how many different ones I used? magical1 I’ve been wanting to use the gorgeous lace tape from the Fun Finds section for some time, and this was the perfect project. I adhered a few strips of the tape to a piece of cardstock, and die cut it with the Doily Square die. Tada! Christmas ornaments! The bows come from Stocking die. magical 2 Before adhering the ornaments and the silver cord to the card I heat embossed a sentiment from Magical stamp set. magical 3 And that’s it! I love the little dots around the ornaments. Nothing can beat a well designed die, right? What about you? Are you making time for Christmas crafting? It’s definitely one of the things I love from the Season. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Polar Bear Christmas Card

DesignTeamHeadshots-LorenaCanto Hello, Waffle Flower friends! Lorena here with a little idea to stretch some of the stamps from our latest release. I should probably be posting Halloween ideas, but I’ve decided to skip that and embrace an early Christmas spirit. Actually, if I were in charge, it would be Christmas all year round. Who’s with me? *wink*   Ok, so let’s talk today’s card. A couple of days ago I had a lightbulb moment and decided that the little guy from Tribal Bear stamp set would make an awesome polar bear. And it did! I stamped the bear, die cut it with the coordinating die set and added some festive green and red to his necklace. bearBut then (and believe me, this doesn’t happen often) I had a second lightbulb moment. Would the cutie Santa hat from Stocking stamp set fit on the bear’s head? Well… it did! I also used the Stocking die to cut the hat and colored it with Copic markers. Isn’t it wonderful when a crafty idea turns out awesome? bear 2The sentiment also comes from Stocking stamp set. As for the background, I masked a snow drift, sponged light blue ink and then added the falling snow using a stencil and white texture paste. Now that I think of it, I barely see people using it anymore… is it “totes 2014” and I’m completely out of the loop? Or can it be considered a classic now? bear 3Anyhow, I had lots of fun making this card and putting the versatile new Waffle Flower stamps to work. Thanks so much for visiting! Thank you for sharing with us today, Lorean! Find time to create and make something today!

Hello everyone! I brought back some small gifts from my recent trip to send to friends. So my project for We R Memory Keepers Lifestyle Studio this month, I'm sharing a simple wrapping of the gift to my friend Cathy. simple-gift-wrapping-with-wrmk I have been accumulating the cute embellishments from We R Memory Keepers for a while! Such as the green chevron washi tape shown in the photo below (I ended up not using it... hmmm... I need more colors!) You can find out more about their fabulous 2014 Summer Release on their video page here! Good stuff's coming! simple-gift-wrapping-with-wrmk-supplies I first die cut a tag (from Tag It Kit) and embossed it with the Bloom embossing folder. simple-gift-wrapping-with-wrmk-step-1 I just love the "reveal" of an embossed piece! Amazing details, right? All embossing folders are actually 20% off at the official We R website this week! simple-gift-wrapping-with-wrmk-step-2 I cut the embossed tag in two pieces and used the top portion on my tag: simple-gift-wrapping-with-wrmk-step-3 By adhering the embossed tag using foam adhesive, I was able to wrap the twine around the bottom without them sticking out. simple-gift-wrapping-with-wrmk-step-4 I found a piece of WRMK silver metallic cardstock that will go well with my tag to wrap my gift in. simple-gift-wrapping-with-wrmk-step-5 At last, I stamped Cathy's name in silver metallic ink to go with the wrap. Alphabet set used is Be My Guest Stamp Set. simple-gift-wrapping-with-wrmk-step-6 And here we have it, a simple gift wrapped with love. simple-gift-wrapping-with-wrmk-closeup If you are interested in purchasing some of the products I used here, WRMK has offered a special 20% off coupon for my blog reader to use at their official online store: shopwer.com. Flower Punch Board Tutorial, Coupon + Giveaway

Hello everyone! Have you heard the news that We R Memory Keepers and American Crafts are now one company? I am excited about this acquisition. For my Studio post today, I used the new WRMK Flower Punch Board and some beautiful paper from AC/Pebbles Special Delivery. nina-yang-flower-punch-board-by-we-r-memory-keepers The flowers are BIG – ranging from 3" to 9" in diameter. I had so much fun mixing and matching the sizes. It is amazing how these beautiful flowers were made from a simple punch board and a stem kit! flower-punch-boardstem-kit-catalog Flower sizes and simple directions are printed on the board but it took me a while to figure out how to fold the petals. Once you have it figured out, it will be very fun and relaxing! So I put together a quick tutorial to share today!

Tutorial

Flower Size: S (5" dia.) Paper Size: 2-5/8" x 12"

1. Punch and Score:

Follow the directions printed on the board. nina-yang-flower-punch-board-step-1

2. Fold the Paper:

nina-yang-flower-punch-board-step-2 "Mountain Fold" means that you fold the paper down at score-line to create a "mountain"; "valley fold" means that you fold the paper up at score-line to create a "valley". nina-yang-flower-punch-board-step-3 Keep folding and you will see a flower shape forming: nina-yang-flower-punch-board-step-4

3. Finish the loop:

Add adhesive to the first little triangle as shown and adhere the two ends together. nina-yang-flower-punch-board-step-5 nina-yang-flower-punch-board-step-6 And when opened up, you will get a flower! nina-yang-flower-punch-board-step-7

4. Curl the Petals:

I think it is a genius idea to include a roller in the board! nina-yang-flower-punch-board-step-9 Curled petals give the flower a more realistic look. nina-yang-flower-punch-board-step-8

5. Add Stem

We get 10 sets of stems in one Stem Kit. nina-yang-flower-punch-board-step-10 I punched a scallop circle to use as a simple layer with the flower. nina-yang-flower-punch-board-step-11 Remember to add the beautiful center stem piece before you screw on the end: nina-yang-flower-punch-board-step-12 nina-yang-flower-punch-board-step-13 Easy, peasy, right? All you need is to pick your flower size and punch away! Here are the sizes I used on my project: nina-yang-flower-punch-board-by-we-r-memory-keepers-closeup

Hello everyone! I'm sharing two 4th of July cards over at Pebbles's Blog today and thought it would be fun to share another one here using the same collection: Americana! nina-yang-4th-of-july-celebrate-card I started with my favorite paper from this collection "Home of the Brave". The word "Sparkle" on it inspired me to spell "celebrate" using some white glitter foam alphabet stickers. nina-yang-4th-of-july-celebrate-card-glitter-letters I also used foam adhesive to add more dimension to the card. nina-yang-4th-of-july-celebrate-card-closeup To my US friends and families – Happy 4th!
