Inspiration from the Challenge Team – December 7

on December 07, 2015
Happy Monday, everyone! Time for some inspiration from the Challenge Team! Annette, Shelly, and Laura Jane are here to share their takes on the December Waffle Flower Challenge! Join the fun by linking your projects to our challenge too! wfc201512 Our previous challenge winner: Anika Lerche is also sharing with us today! WFC-12-7 Guest Anika Anika says: For the background I stamped the sentiments in white pigment ink. I let it dry overnight. Then I stamped the dogs in dye ink over the white ink. For the main image I stamped the dog, added some dimension with Prismacolors and some details with a black gel pen. Using On My Mark Stamp Set, On My Mark Die, Monochrome Stamp Set WFC-12-7-Anika Lerche How cool is the hand stamped sentiment background on Anika's card? We also love that crisp black speech bubble for the sentiment! Thanks Anika for including the detailed shot! WFC-12-7-Anika Lerche2

Annette Allen

Using Stocking Stamp Set, Stocking Die, DT Mix Stamp Set, Flower Circles Die Annette says: I first stamped all the images on a scrap piece of paper. Using the Stamp Layering technique I stamped the stocking pattern from Stocking stamp set. Next I stamped over the heart from DT Mix this fun sentiment also from the Stocking stamp set. I LOVE this sketch so I added that into the mix also created a fun watercolor background just to give it a little more color. WFC-12-7-Annette Allen We are totally in love with this wonderful free-style collage look: the teal heart, the little dotted circle and the watercolored background! We also love that Annette stamped the long sentiment form Stocking stamp set on two lines to fit in the heart! Perfect!

Shelly Kurth

Using Surface Tag Stamp Set, Starry Night Stamp SetBe My Guest Stamp Set Shelly says: For my stamp layering I decided to overlap all my smaller stars in different shades of blue. WFC-12-7-Shelly Kurth Shelly, you've done it again! We are amazed at how you take all the inspiration and make it into something so simple yet so unique and fun! We love how you layered the star stamps!

Laura Jane

Using Stocking Stamp Set, Doily Circle Stamp Set Laura Jane says: I used the many different images from the STOCKING stamp set to create a layered "one of a kind" stocking:) Just a bit of masking magic allowed for flawless ink color changes. The Doily Circle stamp set added an extra layer of goodness to my card base. WFC-12-7-Laura Jane We love that Laura Jane leaves the images uncolored - the "hand-drawn" look adds so much to a Christmas card. Did you see that doily flower stamp peeking from the top right corner? So fun! ___ Aren't these cards fantastic? For more details, please click on the designer's name/link! Thank you for joining us today! Find time to create and make something today! Join the fun by linking your projects here!

Silly Valentine Week - [Video] Punny Cat and Dog Valentine’s by Sabrina

on February 06, 2015
DesignTeamHeadshots-Sabrina I-Like-You-This-Much-Valentines-Waffle-Flower-Sabrina-Alery-4 Hello! Its Sabrina sharing an idea for silly valentine’s with you today. I can never get enough puns, especially at Valentine’s time! There are just so many cute ones like this “I love you this……..much” sentiment included in the On My Mark stamp set. When combined with the coordinating die, it really makes for some cute mini cards! I-Like-You-This-Much-Valentines-Waffle-Flower-Sabrina-Alery-1-1   The cat and dog images are already long and stretched out but adding an accordion folded mid section makes them extra silly! I-Like-You-This-Much-Valentines-Waffle-Flower-Sabrina-Alery-2-1   There is room inside to tuck in a small treat if you wanted to hand something like this out at school, but they are cute even without something extra. I-Like-You-This-Much-Valentines-Waffle-Flower-Sabrina-Alery-3-1   I closed them with a small piece of washi tape to help create a little anticipation! It will also keep any treats contained inside. Here is a quick video for making these punny cat and dog valentine cards: SUPPLIES - On My Mark Stamp Set - On My Mark Die Set Hoping you are enjoying silly valentine week! -Sabrina

Silly Valentine Week - Classroom Valentine Card Set by Katie Gehring

on February 02, 2015
DesignTeamHeadshots-KatieGehring Hello friends,
Katie here sharing an idea for a set of silly Valentines- perfect for the classroom.  To make these Valentines, I used the materials picture below including the On My Mark stamp set, On My Mark die and the Flutter stamp set.
 WFC Gehring Silly Valentine1-1
I trimmed panels of white card stock to 3.25 x 4.25 and adhered some washi tape at the bottom. Next I stamped the polka dot heart from the Flutter stamp set.  A quick tip that I wanted to share… notice the heart on the left is a bit splotchy.  It was the first time I stamped it and with large solid images, sometimes you need to condition the stamps a bit.  I cleaned the ink off the stamp and roughed up the surface just a bit with a fine grit sanding block and look at the stamped image on the right- it inked up and stamped perfectly.
WFC Gehring Silly Valentine2-1
Next, I made a mask using thin card stock and stamped the striped heart in blue ink.  I was using a post it note originally, but I noticed after a few uses, the blue ink was bleeding through- not exactly the look I was going for, so I switched to a heavier paper.  One of the challenges of heavier paper is that the image that you are stamping over the masked image may have some challenges getting right up to the mask, so I used this sponge-tip tool called Fantastix to apply ink next to the mask.  I found Fantastix in the ink section at JoAnn’s.
WFC Gehring Silly Valentine3
After the hearts were in place, I stamped the sentiment from the On My Mark stamp set.  I also stamped and die cut the kitty also from the On My Mark stamp set and wrapped him with some embroidery floss.  This is where my girls let a hand wrapping the kitty with string.  A bit of washi tape on the back of the die cut will hold the string in place.
WFC Gehring Silly Valentine4
I adhered the wrapped kitties with some foam tape.
WFC Gehring Silly Valentine5
And here they are, a set of six Silly Valentines- wrapped in love, string and a bit of washi tape.  The kids can add the "to" and “from" inscription on the back or near the small heart.
WFC Gehring Silly Valentine7
Well, that’s all for me today, but be sure to stop by tomorrow and every day this week for more silly Valentine inspiration.
